Just read this, a group of democratic senators are trying to sneak in some gun control laws into a cybersecurity bill. Its pretty crazy how this happens where a bill will be passed with all sorts of unrelated legislation attached to it. From the article:

Just got an update via email letting me know that the cyber security bill was defeated by a vote of 52-46.

That vote was for cloture - to bring the bill to the floor for a vote. It's still possible the Senate will bring the bill forward for a vote when they re-convene in September.
