Buy the REALLY heavy metals?


Rhenium, Osmium, Iridium and Platinum are the only metals with a density over 21 (g/cc), gold and tungsten are both very close to 19.3. So, you do not need anything other than a good scale and calipers to see if any of the four could be fakes...

But, other than Pt, are any of these worth investing in? Hmm...:

Special thanks to ZH-er (weeks ago! I swear!) "Silver Rhino" who broached the idea of buying impossible to successfully counterfeit these metals.

buy tungsten then !

Others might eventually see its attraction for boat stabilisation (-;

I haven't read your write-up yet, but off the top of my head, I'd say it largely depends upon your vision of the future (and your investment goals). Are those investments very liquid? Ie. can you sell them easily for close to market (spot) prices?
