Mine is Jim Sinclair, very bright and experienced guy whose predictions have shown an astonishing precision. :mrt:

Ron Paul is out of competition

Not sure I have a specific favorite. I respect and have absorbed wisdom from most everyone in that list. I'd put Murphy, Rickards, Sinclair, Sprott and Turk in the upper echelon of people who I would go out of my way to read/listen to what they have to say. The others grab my attention from time to time.

I like Sinclair. He has been right on his gold call. He has been right about not using leverage. He's not a market timer and doesn't claim to be. However, I kind of expect a little assistance in that regard. I don't like Perma-bulls in any trade. Not calling for a decline ever is a disservice.

I really do like Richard Russel and Peter Schiff as well but neither of those guys are good at timing either. Same could be said of Jim Rogers and Gerald Celente.

I guess if you hold a gun to my head, I'd probably pick Kern for picking the life run high and life run low. However, since then, his system hasn't really been all that helpful. However, catching the top in 07 and low in 08 gives him a lot of credibility in my mind. For the short term stuff.. the goldandoilguy.com has been pretty good and so has breakpoint trades. Those aren't fundamental guys but are pretty helpful with timing.

Kyle Bass?

Actually, I listen to them all, then do what I was going to do anyway, mostly - maybe they influence how much I do this time. The permabulls I try and avoid altogether.

So far, the "specialists" don't seem to me any smarter than just the good traders out there. When one of them says buy (or sell) gold, it has an entirely different meaning, since it's not the one thing they harp on day in and day out - they've picked up on gold out of the entire universe of trades for some reason, and it's usually a good one or at least worth taking a look at.

Sometimes if you look at something too closely, the day to day noise takes you off track - you think you see a real trend in the tiniest short-term indicator, and since it was just noise, it wasn't a good time to make a trade, much less an investment.

I'm highly disappointed Jim Cramer is not on the list. I guess I have to vote OTHER....

James Rickard blew me away with a 2 hour lecture he gave some high fliers a couple of years ago. Still try to keep up with his thinking.

Jim Sinclair seems to beat the PM drum so consistently that i almost fear it being a case of loving the message too much.

Think enough of James Turk to give him half my fiats but know he is obliged to talk his book.

Sprott kind of bothers me, because he seems a bit over the top.

Alf Field is the one who most recently impacted and it saddens me that he is not planning on posting much. Perhaps thats why hes not on the voting list ?

Yes, I have chosen those who are regularly giving their opinions.

on reflection I think its the Turd for me .......

He tries so hard to predict and then explains why it didnt necessarily happen as per his predictions.
I love his humility and that he seems to genuinely care for others. He has really helped me to understand WTF is going on with those scary big moves

or maybe FOFOA ..... His work has really taught me more than all the rest and Im confident Do Chen will demand to see his name on the list.

I think James Turk probably has some of the best overall knowledge of the whole industry.

I agree though FOFOA and the Gold Trail is unsurpassed for intense knowledge of the world around us and monetary understanding. Lately I have been reading the old Gold Trail of Another and FOA. Very time consuming(I wish I could read 10x faster). But it goes a long way in understanding our monetary system and its implications.

see !

told you .......

we gonna review the list, or open hostilities with a rival list (-;

The guy who has been ahead of the curve on almost every call posts on a forum at www.caduceusx.com. He goes by the name of 'Yoda' (really), and I have contacted him to get counsel.

He was calling to sell silver last year when it went over $46.00/oz and posted on various forums that the banks would not allow it to hit $50.00. He was right. He has also called the dips and spikes very, very close.

I make a lot of decisions after talking things over with him.

Disclosure: I am emphatically NOT Yoda, nor am I related to him.

I choose Jim Sinclair his experience shows his predictions are correct almost each time.

hey thanks for the caduceusx link jetstream
always interesting to get another perspective

Sinclair, Armstrong, Fekete

The perfect mix of experience, paranoia and core theory! No flipflopping there.

There are plenty of others though, in and out of season.

Ah yes......Martin Armstrong. He has been laying quite low since his release from the longest prison sentence ever meted out for contempt of court. His is a tale of extreme caution for us all. The man was fucking railroaded because he refused to incriminate himself by falsely stating involvement in some scheme in the markets. What a fucked up system we have.

Whenever I start to doubt about the PM bull market and think maybe I should diversify into real estate or something, I just read some Jim Willie articles......

That always scares me back into my PM faith.

As for the answer to this thread, if I had to pick someone it'd be Doug Noland who writes the credit bubble bulletin for prudentbear.com. A while back I started a thread of my favorite article of his about the derivative flood. Here it is again, skip the first five paragraphs as that was market info back in 2000 when he wrote this, it's worth a read if you've never read it:

this just arrived from Bix Weir.

An interesting selection -

Most of us remember who gave us our first big break when we started out in our careers. A good friend, a great boss or even a mentor who took you under their wing and taught you the ropes. As I look around at all the gold and silver newsletter writers I can't help but think of how I got started in this business and who I learned from. There weren't many around in those days and those who were writing about gold and silver were thought to be "crazy gold bugs" or members of the "tin foil hat gang"(...thanks for that one Jon Nadler!)

But over time the message spread that maybe there was something that these people understood that the rest of the investing public didn't. Of course a steadily rising price over the last 12 years helped our cause but it wasn't just that fact. It was that these people were fighting for something more than financial gain. They were fighting for justice and truth in the corrupt world of finance and I have no doubt that if gold was still struggling under $300 and silver under $5 that these people would still be fighting that fight with all their might.

So I'd like to tip my hat to those whose shoulders I stood upon for over ten years now as they have steered me in the right direction...and continue to do so. Here's my list of some, not all but some, of the GIANTS I learned from:

1) Bill Murphy of GATA.org and LeMetropoleCafe.com

*Like many, Bill got me riled up about the manipulation of the gold and silver markets back in the year 2000. Not only did Bill see what most others could not, Bill wasn't afraid to stand up for his convictions and scream at the top of his lungs at regulators to MAKE IT STOP! Bill is a Wild Man and a great patriot who has carried our flag through the darkest of nights. Bill's Cafe was one of the very first places we outraged gold bugs could vent our frustrations and has always supported my work at the Road to Roota and for that I am in his debt.

website: www.LeMetropoleCafe.com
content: Daily updates and commentary on gold and silver manipulation.
cost: free trial membership, $299/year subscription

2) Chris Powell of GATA.org

*If Bill Murphy has an alter ego it would be his partner at GATA Chris Powell. Chris is calm, cool and collected in the face of market chaos that has defied explanation. But Chris always stay cool and on target. He keeps Bill in check when needed and stays steadfast to upholding the facts and documented evidence that GATA has accumulated to prove the manipulation of the gold and silver markets. Chris is the ROCK of GATA.

website: www.gata.org
content: Updates and commentary on gold and silver manipulation.
cost: Donations to GATA are very helpful but everything is free.

3) Ted Butler of butlerresearch.com

* What can I say about Ted? He's the reason I got into silver. He's the reason we all got into silver! He's the reason that silver has risen from under $5/oz to where it is today. Ted has been at this game for DECADES and we all owe him a huge debt of gratitude. And he's done it all without relying on "conspiracy theories"! He has explained the situation to all of us by analyzing the CFTC's OWN DATA to prove that the silver market is manipulated. Not even the corrupt regulators have been able to refute his position...that's why the 4 year long investigation into silver price manipulation is still pending. Because Ted Butler is right.

website: www.butlerresearch.com
content: Commentary on silver focusing on COMEX data.
cost: $34.95/month and worth every penny.

4) Jim Sinclair of JSMineset.com

*How can you go wrong with a guy nicknamed "Mr. Gold"? Jim is a legend amongst us gold bugs and I learned a ton from him when I was first getting my feet wet. Not only did he teach me about the importance of gold but he also taught me about the economics of gold....also the philosophy of gold, the volitality of gold, the potential for gold, etc. etc. Thank you Jim!

website: www.jsmineset.com
content: Commentary on gold, economics and global issues.
cost: Jim's information is free to all.

5) David Morgan of Silver-investor.com

*David has been at the silver game for a very long time and has an excellent website offering. He is also the perfect "front man" for our side of the silver battle giving the mainstream media someone to talk to other than the Bad Guy's mouthpieces J. Christian and J. Nadler. David presents well and mainly sticks to the type of analysis that is accepted by the mainstream investing public (although he knows there is much more to the story).

website: www.silver-investor.com
content: Commentary and videos on silver investing.
cost: $269.99/year with various options.

Clearly there are more people I have followed and gained valuable information from but these are my favorites.

There are also newer sites (at least to me) and people that I follow these days who offer excellent information that helps in the Road to Roota analysis. Here's just a few:

1) Sean of SGTreport.com

*Sean is a very unique, media savvy individual and runs an important website. He is the future of media as our mainstream media options are being found out as massively manipulated and corrupt. Sean stands as a beacon of truth, honesty and honor in this dark world and lives up to these virtues in his work. He is an excellent interviewer and knows how to cut to the important issues in our battle for our freedom. We are lucky to have him and his website on our side.

website: www.SGTreport.com
content: Videos, interviews and commentary on metals and the freedom movement.
cost: Free to all.

2) Clif High of Halfpasthuman.com

*Clif is brilliant. Not just brilliant in any specific field but brilliant in almost every field or topic that you can think of. He is an amazing manifestation of what humans are truly capable of. When you read his work or listen to him it is a challenge to your intellect. No doubt about it. He makes you think harder and deeper than you ever thought you could...but he opens your eyes. If you haven't discovered him yet you should. He'll crack your brain wide open and stuff it with information you never thought you could understand. And that's a good thing!

website: www.halfpasthuman.com
content: Commentary and Webbot Reports about the future.
cost: Free commentary and a token $10 for ALTA reports(or free if you don't have ten bucks!).

3) George Ure of UrbanSurvival.com

*George is great fun. He covers everything from the markets to conspiracy theories to the "Woo-Woo World" and posts almost every day. His website is creative and easy to read and touches upon many subjects that I unwittingly find myself running off on investigative tangents with. Put it on your daily reading list!

website: www.urbansurvival.com & www.peoplenomics.com
content: Market commentary as well as every subject under the sun.
cost: Free daily commentary except for Wednesdays & weekends $40/year.

Of course there are many more people and websites out there that I read and learn from. These days there is quite the potpourri of websites and opinions on gold, silver and the quest for our freedom.

Pick and choose the ones you like but remember...

WE ARE ALL STANDING ON THE SHOULDERS OF GIANTS!
