Chinese govt advise gold buying - why? What is their plan?

interesting theory as to why China is allowing citizens to buy gold...


 
Nice find Jay. The Chinese have declared their intention to displace the US Dollar as the world's reserve currency. Backing it with gold in some fashion would help bolster appeal for it considering how they are currently debasing it as much or more than the Fed is the Dollar (or the Japanese are the Yen). I could also see the Chinese advice being a measure of insurance against financial calamity. The Chinese population has a history of violent uprising when they can't afford to eat. Another possibility that occurs to me is that they want their people to help vacuum up the global supply of physical to hasten a great revaluation of the government's physical gold assets (freegold, etc.).
 
The Chinese have been doing exactly what they set out to do; become the worlds superpower and monetary hegemon. Those guys plan for the next dynasty, not the next election.
