Chart of the year:
http://www.zerohedge.com/news/chart-year-fed-has-doubled-sp-admits-fed

"We show that since 1994, more than 80 percent of the equity premium on U.S. stocks has been earned over the twenty-four hours preceding scheduled Federal Open Market Committee (FOMC) announcements (which occur only eight times a year)"

So, 80% of returns on stock market equity is due to the FED?!
:flail:

So, we should only trade the day before FOMC, and we'll pick up just as much cash?

Maybe if you're only considering long-only index trades, yes. Nothing else was really measured, especially not PM's. Some of my "safe haven" high dividend REITs go up more on market down days than they otherwise do, for one example. They've really zoomed for most of this recent downturn.
