The disappeared: Chicago police detain Americans at abuse-laden 'black site'

Exclusive: Secret interrogation facility reveals aspects of war on terror in US
‘They disappeared us’: protester details 17-hour shackling without basic rights

===================

at first this is alarming- but notice- that people are processed in a day. I dont think they ought to cry wolf.

They also mention 15 year olds.. well- have you ever seen some of those "teens"?

Sorry Penn, but whether or not they later start to follow procedure doesn't excuse the illegal detention, torture and battery (in one case, murder). The whole operation is anathema to the core spirit of America. If the police have detained/caught perps with legitimate evidence to support their actions, they should process them accordingly. Anyone who condones this MO and also condemns the German people for letting evil prevail in the 1930s/1940s, needs to take a look in the mirror.

I'm with PMBug 100 percent on this one. Too many cops treat you as guilty until proven innocent these days. You can be detained for long periods of time, and if you complain, they stack more bullshit charges on you like, "obstruction", "resisting without violence" and other such nonsense charges.

What exactly the hell is resisting without violence you ask? Well, simply put it is protesting getting arrested in the first place. All it takes is for you to not obey some dumbass order like "Stop filming and bring me that camera so I can delete the footage". If you don't comply you are treated like a terrorist. It is worst in the Dem states than anywhere else.

Read the link closely.

The issue is these folks are not processed for 17 hours. At one time- they could hold you 72 hours with no charges.

This link is crying wolf. Do you realize how bad Chicago is? This link is cry babies because they do not feel they are being processed in a timely manner.

It also hints at a law suit for millions. Who then pays? The tax payer.

That police center is not policing for profit-

In Fergossin the protests been going on for over 6 months now. Why do those people have the right to incur millions $ in police over time? Guess who pays for that?

So- to those who think this is terrible how many hours do you think it should take to process? Are you willing to pay the extra staff to make this possible?

Wrong Penn, completely wrong. The story here is that Chicago police are detaining people for extended periods of time without charging them. They cannot put handcuffs on you unless you are being charged with a crime. In addition, this is a "dark facility", or at least it was. That means it isn't supposed to even exist. You cannot take people......any people, and simply lock them up for hours and hours just for "questioning". In addition to that, if someone asks for a lawyer, questioning MUST STOP immediately, and a lawyer provided per the fucking constitution. We are all innocent until proven guilty, and we should all be willing to fight to the death to preserve that right for even the scummiest known thugs out there, because some day it may be you or me in the hot seat.

This is a constitutional issue that goes far, far beyond the city limits of Chicago or any other ghetto for that matter. Cops in America have come to believe themselves to be above the law and not subject to the restraints guaranteed Americans in the Constitution. If we let them get away with it in Chicago just because we think the city is a shithole and gangstas don't matter, then it will come to suburbia. They are beta testing this shit a little bit at a time to see how far they can push the envelope.

The link says that what is going on in Chicago is the same as gitmo. By them doing to- this mocks what is going on at gitmo.

It lessens the magnitude of the gitmo situation.

It says the practice has been going on for 40 years and does not violate any IL laws.

I dont think what is going on in Chicago is the same thing -it is not as bad as what is going on at gitmo.

By saying it does- invites more of the same- because thats the way we always done it.

A fair point Penn.
Its easy enough to dress up a few lowlives as 'dissapeared' and create a distorted report based on it.

Not sure about the argument that its a financial scam though .........

Question everything.

Assume nothing, except perhaps that some bankers and some gov officials do not have our best interests at heart .

This isn't true, police can put handcuffs on you without charging you with a crime. I don't know where you got this info from, but it's simply not true. They often place handcuffs on people, especially in a situation where there has been multiple assaults to ensure their own safety until they can get sorted out who did what. Not to mention often times they show up to a domestic violence scene, throw cuffs on the guy and then find out it was the female who assaulted the male. Now in the old days, and in certain places it's still this way, the male ALWAYS goes to jail in domestic violence case, but it's getting better. Also it is often policy to transport suspects or persons of interest in handcuffs for questioning, even if they don't plan on charging them and never do charge them. Finally pretty much everyone that is arrested is handcuffed. Not everyone arrested is ever charged with a crime.
