Severe Earthquake in Cebu; while I was reading about the damage (my wifes family is OK, 60 dead so far) I found this video. Pretty cool:

 
Pretty cool. Wished the video showed one of those old fire pistons in action.

Looks like there are several of these for sale on Amazon. Reading the reviews for one of them indicates that it takes some skill to use it and actually get a fire going:

I can see Tatay (now deceased) using that. About twenty years ago, a dog kept crapping on our front porch. I carved a slingshot and every time it came around, I lobbed a rock at it. Tatay just watched me and sat there splitting bamboo with his bolo (machete). When he was done, he built a fence around our dooryard. He never said a word. I looked really stupid.
