- so the neighbor where I watch tv cut her package down to the family cheap one. So this is the bare bones of tv. I try to find stuff to watch. (DVR)

I got into family ties- with michael j foxx.

As you recall- the parents are hippies- and the kid is for reagan. So- conservative vs liberal tiff riddle the plots.

If you watch it- notice how the federal reserve is referred to. In one episode alex sets up mallory on a date via a computer. what a hoot! the computer is one of those old OLD ones.

I like to notice the fashion, the hair, the attitude of the 80s. The dreams and expectations.

Stackers- now that I stack- I catch things in tv shows- that I never noticed.

Next comes the break with TV altogether !

Then your mind is freed up, as you do not get your regular dose of 'education'
and you can think about things you may never have considered ........

its awesome being free of their mind control.

Sorry no. We have our routine. I am there 2 hours a day. Figure 30 mins for dinner, and 90 mins for tv. If I deviate- something is wrong. We have our routine. However- this can be tweaked. I know she can use a break.

TV gets me off the computer. In the summer I do yard work. I have injuries- and if I over do physical then I pay for it big time. So because of my disabilities I have to manage carefully. Get SOME exercise so I dont have a heart attack- but not to the point of returning to physical therapy- which I should do- but wont.

So I try to do errands on my mountain bike.

Now- the 90 minutes I do look at tv- why? Do I want to simply waste time? At times it has a purpose like to forget my pain levels. I try not to over watch reruns.

She likes my company - but not underfoot. It is hard to talk to her because her hearing loss is so bad. Then there is only some things I can talk about. Some of her is very sheltered and could never handle things I would tell her.

Frankly- there is no one real time I can talk to.

So- I did find some new shows- that I liked- she also demands DVR. So we skip commercials. Our outings are church and I really dont want to go these days. She blows money on hair and nails- but it is her money and her house. I told her maybe in the winter we could get more channels. The cheap pack does not have the black and white movies she loves. But with her hearing so bad- she mostly does not watch tv or even listen to a radio.

I am the son she never had. She is 78.

I have it good. I try to look for ways to pay her back.

She ALSO gets testy- she does not like me watching what she considers porn- mob wives- happily divorced. So she wants me to watch things like little house on the praire- and the waltons- I hate the waltons and wont watch it. She tolerates me watching the brady bunch- and she cant understand when I watch I love lucy.

She would go crazy if we had showtime and I watched weeds, and queer as folk, or dexter.

We have our routine- 2 years now. It is almost like I am a husband. When my family was at dinner- I was edge of the seat- my family knows I am gay- and she does not know- does not want to know- and this is a conversation we will never have.

Even the nat geo channel is too much for her. A bear killing its prey...

BTW- even at church she will go off on the pastor being wrong.

Scripturally inaccurate. I could enjoy the service- then she gets all upset over it being inaccurate.

Last night at dinner her girlfriend was there- and I am getting sick of that girl-- hogging her time. Shirley has no perception of time when L is around. She had to do an errand with her sister planned for 5pm- so she asked me to have dinner earlier- so we did. L pissed me off. She ranted about microwave ruins molecules in food- and fraking wrecking the environment. HELLO! The dinner hour- needs to be cheerful light conversation- so Shirley gets all worked up and was not eating- (remember her sister was waiting on her) I pointed at her and firmly said EAT. L looked at me. L spoils dinner by talking doom- and then went on to make Shirley late for her sister when we both told her that her errand with her sister was important.
This was a roast -potatoes home cooked meal. Not a hot dog. You do not ruin a nice home cooked dinner with testy issue conversation. and L has a habit of making Shirley forget and be late for stuff all the time.

Sounds like youve got em all weighed up Penn
Gotta be careful having too much fun with the mind games though.

Be Well
