REPORT: Five electricity substations in Oregon and Washington are ATTACKED just days after two in North Carolina were SHOT UP causing widespread power outages...

Yup.

Never have so many idiots, been so eager to commit such a messy, slow mass suicide...as what we see now.

It certainly spotlights the risks of putting all your eggs in electric energy basket

Transformers are the number one supply chain crunch item. Even before the beer flu drama there was a shortage of heavy duty utility grade transformers. Good old Uncle Sam's EPA chased most of the US manufacturers off-shore because of the PCB oils and other stupid regulations. The two major heavy duty power transformer countries are Turkey and China. Most other countries just keep up with domestic needs and don't export many transformers. The US makes some real high end stuff in small quantities but the transformers most of your local utilities use come right off the boat from China or Turkey.

Maybe they are solar panel salesmen?

Emails obtained by OPB and KUOW show that at least six electric substations in the region have been attacked, at least two by people with firearms

The electrical grid has been physically attacked at least six times in Oregon and Western Washington since mid-November, causing growing alarm for law enforcement as well as utilities responsible for parts of the region’s critical infrastructure.

Yea, because shooting a transformer, if they even know what that is, really sticks it to Slow Joe....

Not a fan of this bullshit.
You must mean the abject disregard for environmental pollution caused by toxic cancer-causing PCB's in the <redacted - see forum guidelines on epithets>ies??

(their) terrists, of forest fire fame, have been repurposed?

Someone has been attacking power plants all over the country, and federal authorities are trying to determine who it is. In recent days, we have seen significant sabotage on both the east and west coasts, and so it can’t just be one individual that is responsible. During the first eight months of this year, there were a total of 106 attacks on the electrical grid in the United States, and that represents the highest number ever recorded in a single year.

“Nearly 600 electric emergency incidents and disturbances were caused by suspected and confirmed physical attacks and vandalism on the electric grid in those nine years, the reports show.”

So around 67 attacks reported per yer on average? WTH?

i'm wondering about the outage on the keystone pipeline -- did the (communists) hit it too?

WASHINGTON, Kan., Dec 12 (Reuters) - Traders expressed worry on Monday about how long Canada's TC Energy Corp (TRP.TO) would take to clean up the largest U.S. crude oil spill in nearly a decade and restart its Keystone oil pipeline after more than 14,000 barrels of oil leaked last week.

TC Energy shut the pipeline after the spill was discovered on Wednesday in Kansas. The company told officials in Washington County, Kansas, on Monday that they have not yet determined the cause and that they started excavating around the pipeline.

add south carolina

The most recent potential case of sabotage occurred in South Carolina.

According to multiple law enforcement sources, an individual opened fire near a Duke Energy facility at the Wateree Hydro Station in Ridgeway.
The individual used what appeared to be a long gun and then sped away.

keystone attacked in s. dakota.....other attacks in california, oklahoma

"Power companies in Oregon and Washington have reported physical attacks on substations using hand tools, arson, firearms and metal chains possibly in response to an online call for attacks on critical infrastructure," the memo says in part.

"In recent attacks, criminal actors bypassed security by cutting the fence links, lighting nearby fires, shooting equipment from a distance or throwing objects over the fence and onto equipment."

Those included an act of vandalism that caused "fairly significant" damage at a transformer servicing the Keystone XL pipeline in South Dakota and a shooting that caused a chemical spill at a Pacific Gas and Electric site in California in July.

In March, thousands of customers in southern Oklahoma were reportedly left without power after bullets riddled a transformer site, causing a "major oil leak."

A spokesperson for East River Electric in South Dakota said Wednesday that a sensor warning went off at 12:30 a.m. Sunday, alerting the company of a problem at a transmission substation that serves the Keystone pipeline.

The company found a transformer had been vandalized, causing the power disruption. This particular substation powers only the Keystone pipeline.

The company said the incident caused a “fairly significant” amount of damage, including a mineral oil leak. Mineral oil is used in transformer operations.

Wait until these goofballs discover that most of the Bakkan oil moves by railcar, now.

Over Warren Buffet's Lionel set - the BNSF, the Big New Santa Fe (as we called it).

Those tracks go through some of the most desolate land in the lower 48 - Eastern Montana, and the Great Plains. Derailing one of those trains would be child's play; and the payoff, spectacular.

Here's what it looks like when a crude-oil train comes off the rails:

Thousands lose power after three substations targeted in Washington state, sheriff says

Who is Behind the Attacks on America’s Power Grid? Featuring Dave Neiwert

Jan 23, 2023

The attacks on four power substations in western Washington in late December seemed to follow a pattern set by apparent far-right domestic terrorists around the country over the previous year: gunfire directed at transformers and particular pieces of equipment that force the substation to shut down, depriving thousands of residents of electricity. Because it seemed to fit a blueprint being circulated by neo-Nazi accelerationists, and was similar to other attacks in the region, authorities naturally suspected it might be another case of domestic terrorism. 10:20

Of course...classical Strawman.

First, make the strawman. Nazis are RIGHT, right? I mean, they were all about limited government and personal freedoms. So they're RIGHTISTS.

Second, now we "know" that it's neo-Nazis doing it. Because WE SEEN THE PROOF.

Ergo, it's those Bible-loving CON-SOIVATIVES who're blowing up power substations! BEAT that strawman UP!....

Neo-Nazi Couple Arrested for Plotting to Destroy Baltimore’s Power Grid

Story by Josh Fiallo • 47m ago

Aneo-Nazi couple recently out of prison may soon be back behind bars after they allegedly blabbed to an undercover informant last month that they planned to sabotage power stations in Maryland.

Brandon Russell, 27, and Sarah Clendaniel, 34, are accused of plotting to shoot up five substations that serve the Baltimore area—an attack Clendaniel told a federal informant would be “legendary” if pulled off, the Washington Post reported, citing a criminal complaint.

Russell and Clendaniel are facing up to 20 years in prison for the foiled attack plan. Their first court appearance will be on Monday in Baltimore federal court.

Russell, a neo-Nazi leader who founded the far-right group Atomwaffen, had been jailed since 2018 for keeping lethal bomb-making materials in his apartment. Atomwaffen has been known to threaten journalists, African American churches and Jewish organizations. Clendaniel was locked up in a different prison for a spate of convenience store robberies where she wielded a machete and demanded cash and cigarettes.

Baltimore power grid attack suspect had 'wish list' of guns, sought to 'completely destroy this whole city'

Awoman from Maryland charged alongside a Neo-Nazi leader from Florida with conspiring to attack energy facilities allegedly had a "wish list" of guns and said she wanted to strike five substations around the Baltimore area in one day to "completely destroy this whole city," according to charging documents.
