My first guess was Greater L.A. with all the rich and movie stars and huge agglomeration, then I thought maybe New York (if not LA).

I was surprised to see the real "winner"... :p

That does not suprise me with all the refineries in Florida. In reality Miami is simply the point at which at good deal of gold enters and exits the country. It does not mean that the people of Miami are all gold investors.
 
Houston has one of the busiest shipping ports (boats) in the country, but I'm guessing most folks shipping gold prefer air freight. Miami's airport is a natural destination for it.
 
Miami might be in first place, because of it`s role as a drug money laundering hub...
