Well, We have had around 12" of rain, with more in the forecast for tomorrow and Thursday. My back yard, more recently re-named Lake Ancona, will soon become a mosquito breeding sanctuary and frog raising compound what with ten inches of standing water and a saturated watershed. We are in the St. Johns River 100 year flood plain, which means that eight to ten feet down there is a layer of clay/marl that is only semi-pervious, so heavy rain saturates the land pretty quickly, requiring ground water to travel laterally instead of straight down. The last time this happened was after Wilma blew through to our south, but gave us inch an hour rain for thirty hours. We got nearly three feet of rain in one fucking day, and I had a foot of water in the house. We cut the drywall three feet up and replaced it with Du rock:flail: and ripped out carpets, replacing them with ceramic tiles, but floods are still a pain in the ass. We're about four inches away from needing to build a fucking ark and having to gather up animals two by two.....:judge:

In for pictures of your new lake :redherring:

That really stinks. Anytime you get water in a house, it is just a mess, even if it doesn't do a lot of damage. Better prep a house boat next time. Good luck!

Look on the positive side. When your lake dries up you will be able to find the silver you lost when your boat sank.:rotflmbo: Unfortunately, you may need the silver to fix what the lake destroyed.

BTW, you can have some of our rain. We exceeded June's maximum rainfall here in the first 7 days of June. And it has rained every day since, sometimes over an inch per day. And today it has been raining steadily all day long.

Only positive things here are 1)the land does not look like a pancake so the water runs off, and 2) all of the rain/overcast is keeping the highs in the upper 50s when they should be in the lower 70s making for very nice SOGGY days.

Yah, hate to say it, but we could use some of that rain up here in VA. 90's to 100's all this week, no clouds, not fun to be outdoors. Sorry to hear about your flood though, ancona - too much of almost anything is a problem, eh?

I was in VA this weekend; miserably hot!

As far as flooding goes, I always look at the elevation of the property in relation to the surrounding county. Even in lower lying areas, places that are even 20 feet higher are really nice to have.

Supposed to hit 104 and 108 the next two days here.
