Apparently, the DHS has been quietly awarding huge multi hundred million dollar contracts to provide armed security at what were once mundane offices like social security and welfare offices. the story can be found in it's entirety here:

This is very important, because what has been discussed in alternative media as largely conspiratorial, may actually have some basis in real need. If the financial system unwinds on a level three orders of magnitude worse than Lehman did, you have the real possibility of mass starvation, rioting and other terrible things. Mexico's oil days are nearing sunset, with the massive decline in the Cantarrel oil field [Mexico's largest by far] which funds their entire social safety net system, we could be looking at a massive influx of financial refugees in the US. For decades, Mexico exported a giant portion of their oil, mostly because their people were for the most part, too poor to aford a car. Now, they are using the lions share of what they produce, and their most productive fields are in irreverswible decline. In two years, they will not be able to export enough oil to support their meager social security pensions and such, and will have to raise taxes to pay for it. We all know what happens when "entitlements" are withdrawn.

This shit could very well be getting real, and GovCo is afraid to tell us about it.

Sounds like a good reason to get cracking re building "The Wall" along our border w/ Mexico. But, the current Administration does not want to go there.

Yep, we're frigged.

There is a fear of "right wing extremists" attacking government agencies. I think that concern is warranted to a degree. I don't see why someone would target social security or welfare offices though. Maybe there have been threats against those agencies and they are beefing up security. Or maybe they are just being cautious..

The fear might not be entirely misplaced, but is beside the point. If there is fear - and there is no doubt whatever that they promote fear - it's merely used to justify spending more money we don't have, on yet more concentration of statist power.

Might that money be better spent making people less bent out of shape with the current scheme, assuming you're going to spend it anyway? Not to the cronies, who get first whack at it this way, but not that way. Jobs!
