Akash Network is a relatively new crypto player that is trying to build a platform that sounds very similar to what Theta Network is building:
akash.network
They have an app that anyone can use to share their computing resources with the Network and get paid for doing so, although it seems to be a bit more complicated and restrictive (Linux only - no Windows) than Theta's Edge Node software:

That said, Akash seems to be gaining some traction. I learned about it a few days ago via a Coinbase Learn program that rewarded me with a few dollars worth of AKT. This morning I saw this news:
Learn how Akash Network revolutionizes cloud computing by offering cost-effective, diverse, and open cloud resources. Discover the benefits for providers and tenants in this community-driven ecosystem.
The Akash Network comprises key components: Akash Providers, managing infrastructure and Kubernetes clusters; Akash Network, a versatile platform similar to Airbnb for data centers, offering cost-efficiency, choice, standardized resources, open-source principles, and community involvement; and Akash Tenants, deploying apps as Docker containers, benefiting from decentralized deployment. Together, they form the Akash Network’s foundation.

Akash was built using the Cosmos software development kit (SDK) and implemented on the Cosmos blockchain. It’s an open network that offers users a way to buy and sell computing resources via its own marketplace. It connects server owners who need computing power to host applications with cloud computing resources.
The company also announced its ‘Akash summit’ on Monday, which will take place in May. The summit will have a focus on the decentralized artificial intelligence (AI) space.
