Behind The Scenes At The Royal Mint | Minting the New Angel Coins

May 14, 2026 #Gold #Silver #RoyalMint
Go behind the scenes at The Royal Mint with SD Bullion CEO Chase Turner and COO Cole Keller as they explore one of the world’s most historic minting facilities and witness the creation of the brand-new Angel bullion coins.
In this exclusive tour, Chase and Cole meet with senior Royal Mint officials, learn how the Angel coin program was developed, and even step onto the production floor to help mint one-ounce gold Angel coins themselves.
During the visit, they sit down with Royal Mint historian Chris Barker to uncover the fascinating history behind the Angel design — dating back centuries in British history. Chris explains the legendary “touching for the king’s evil” ceremony, where Angel coins were believed to possess healing powers and were worn around the neck by the sick after being blessed by the monarch.
The tour also includes an interview with Andrew Dickey, Director of Precious Metals at The Royal Mint, where they discuss the world-famous Silver Britannia coin series, cutting-edge security features, annual coin production, and future plans for Britannia bullion products.

The Britannia is high on my list of most beautiful world coins, both silver and gold. The gold ones are striking with their purity and design. I hesitate to say its "most beautiful" because the world is full of gorgeous coinage but I'd put the Britannia just a notch below the Libertad and its far more affordable.

The reverse on the Britannia is my modern favorite. I always wondered why premiums were less than most others until I turned one over.
