Judge who held DOJ lawyer in contempt blasts handling of immigration cases​

A federal judge who took the extraordinary step of holding a government lawyer in contempt of court earlier this week blasted the Justice Department for its handling of immigration cases on Friday, accusing the department's Minneapolis office of skirting orders and blaming staffing shortages "again, and again, and again."

The order adds to months of sparring between federal judges and the Trump administration, as Immigration and Customs Enforcement's mass deportation efforts cause an unprecedented flood of legal cases by detainees seeking to be released. Several judges in Minnesota have accused ICE of failing to follow orders in those cases.

In a hearing Wednesday, U.S. District Judge Laura Provinzino held an Army lawyer who was assigned to the Justice Department in civil contempt. She ordered the lawyer, Matthew Isihara, to pay $500 per day until the government returned identification documents to Rigoberto Soto Jimenez, who was released by ICE in Texas without his ID last week despite a court order requiring him to be flown back to Minnesota with his personal property.

You do realize there are in fact circumstances that allow law enforcement to enter a home without a warrant, yes?
.....and would it be remiss to not instruct officers under which circumstances it is legal to do so?
 

Judge rips ICE ‘sloppiness’ after claiming 4-year-old busted for weed​

A federal judge reprimanded Donald Trump’s administration for claiming that an immigrant seeking his release from custody was convicted for marijuana possession in 2009 — when he was 4 years old.

To support arguments for the man’s ongoing detention and removal from the country, government lawyers attached a document from Immigration and Customs Enforcement that they "indicated" was related to his criminal history.

They submitted the document in court filings “despite the differences in birthdate, birthplace, parents’ names, and immigration status,” West Virginia District Judge Irene Berger noted in her order to release him on Tuesday.

Another trans mutant shooting, y'all

Cullan Zeke Daly shot a border patrol agent in New Hampshire.

The agent returned fire, hitting Daly, and Daly has been arrested.

Daly, from Manchester, drove 150 miles north for currently "unknown" reasons, though one might guess.

A border patrol stopped Daly in Stewartstown. The agent asked Daly whether he used other names than the one given, at which point he drove away.

Agents pursued him and stopped him at the Pittsfield border. Daly then fired at the agent stopping him, missed, and was shot in return.

Daly is a registered Democrat. His only "like" on Facebook is of a homosexual bar.
 

Federal judge rules Trump's 'third country' deportation policy is unconstitutional​

A federal judge on Wednesday blocked the Trump administration from deporting illegal immigrants to so-called "third countries" without first giving them notice and an opportunity to challenge their removal, in a high-stakes case that is likely headed to the Supreme Court.

The ruling from U.S. District Judge Brian Murphy, a Biden appointee, comes months after lawyers filed a class-action lawsuit in Boston challenging the Department of Homeland Security’s process of deporting illegal immigrants in the U.S. to so-called "third countries" — countries that are not their home country and were not previously designated in their removal orders.

Murphy ultimately sided with the migrants Wednesday, ruling that DHS's third-country removal policy is unlawful and violates due process protections under the U.S. Constitution.
