Gold Rises While No One Wants American Gold Eagles Anymore​

The price of gold is near the all time high but investors are abandoning American Gold eagles. Why is this, and why are the premiums that dealers pay for AGEs now dropping below spot to the same prices for less desirable gold coins like foreign gold and even generic bars? While the gold price is up, many coin dealers are saying that retail investors are selling much more gold they buy. The premiums are crashing because the refineries are offering less to the coin dealers. It is getting so bad that one coin dealer says they are American Gold Eagles to the refiners to melt. Is now a good time to buy American Gold Eagles since you can get the 1 oz coins for about 2% over the spot price of gold compared to the usual 7% over spot price?

AGEs have a high premium. If you play the spread you can net +1% by purchasing foreign gold like Krugerrands and Brits.

The thing is most people do not own physical gold bullion for investment, so they don't even think about these current prices until they need to buy jewelry. Spot prices are meaningless to them. They care more about how much a cup of coffee costs at Starbucks.

However, people like you and me will soon be priced out of the market because $4k gold might sound like a windfall to the old timers, but it's a flashing warning signal. Then, the new game will be fractional which everybody said to stay away from, but will be the new thing.

Americans 4x Poorer Than We Were in 1920!​

In US dollar terms, incomes may have nominally risen over time.
But in gold terms, we're getting poorer and poorer as time proceeds.
Meanwhile the largest gold buyers in the world on net continue selling fiat US dollars for gold, and more and more now the main stream financial media are reporting this fact.
The spot silver and gold markets sold lower on the week. With the spot silver price likely to close just over $36 oz bid and the spot gold price to finish the week around $3,280 oz bid.
The spot gold silver ratio lowered this week finishing at 90 with silver's relative recent strength over gold.

Its such a pretty metal you have to root for it anyways even if you dont own any, which I dont. But in the recycle place I worked at they loved buying it in scrap. Very useful metal and makes fine jewelry.
 
Gold and silver perking up today. $3,318.33 and $36.26. Ratio down to 92 "105 was insane, I bought as much junk and 10 oz bars as I could back then".

I would go to call it almost THE top dog metal in all of chemistry. It is the best catalyst and catalysts are very, very important to just about all chemcials produced these days.

The only problem, is that its so good it is not consumed in the process. Just a bit to start and you're good for who knows how long.
 
Since it is the cool thing to do these days I went and asked Perplexity.

It estimated that dozens to Hundreds of Industrially produced chemicals use Platinum
Also, there are over 1,000 reactions known that it can act as a catalyst.
 
The thing about platinum is that it is so rare and the market is tiny. Wait until the physical market only runs through China. How much will platinum cost for delivery? Paper spot price won't matter to manufacturers.

$40 or 50 was where the price collapse last time but Powell mentioned cutting rates....I'll keep buying.
 
$37.02 an oz isn't a hit. Silver is strong right now. I did an audit of my stack the other day and was surprised to find that gold made up almost 1/2 the value. I knew its impact was skewed but I didn't expect to find it almost at 1/2, which means I really need to buy silver while the ratio is still fairly high and I think silver has a ways to go until the end of 2025 when I expect it to be $40.

Even still I dont like buying when its at a somewhat elevated price and would prefer to buy when its low. Immediately upon pay day, Aug 1st, I want to sink at least $1 K into silver but since Ive been buying mostly 10oz bars and junk silver, which is boring, I'd like to find some coinage on sale. I'd like to find about 10 1 oz Libertards just because, just because I like them so much, and they have become awfully hard to find but BE has BU's for $42 and Eagles at spot so I might go that route and maybe throw in a 10 oz generic bar.

But I just dont see silver going much cheaper if at all at least for the summer. It hasn't been sub-$30 since April and has been dancing with $36+ all thru June and now into Jul.

Silver Media Attention is Getting Real Bullish​

We want to wish a safe and Happy 4th of July to all our United States viewers out there. There has been some good winning for gold, silver, and precious metal bulls in the first half of this year 2025.
Both silver and gold have moved up over 25% in fiat dollar values in the first half of the year, and of course platinum bulls have been enjoying over 50% gains in the first half of this year. Probably the most noteworthy bullion related news items on this holiday shortened week are few fold.
It appears both High Net Worth and average investors are beginning to plow additional investing capital into the silver sector. You likely recall in late March of this year 2025, we published a Youtube Weekly Bullion Market Update entitled, "$400 Million Silver Bullion Buyer Goes Public | New Silver Squeeze Findings" in which we covered the story of High Net Worth investor David Bateman going public on Twitter X about his massive bullion buying spree to start the year.
Well, he was back this week, announcing on Twitter X that he has added to his bullion positioning with an additional 800,000 oz of silver bullion, 7,000 oz of platinum, and even adding 4,300 oz of palladium bullion holdings. Game on he exclaimed.
Over the last month, average normie silver investors have been piling into unsecured Silver ETFs and ETPs in both the Western and Eastern world judging from Indias various 15 silver funds. Combined they reportedly added over 43 million oz in the last 4 weeks. That is over half of the world's monthly new line silver supply flowing to unsecured ETFs alone in June 2025.
Adding fuel to the potential silver investment demand picture is not merely a potential price breakout in the works both in spot terms but also in relative terms versus gold.
But also the recent bullish silver story coverage in both Western and Eastern financial news publications such as the Financial Times, The Economic Times of India, and the WSJ's MarketWatch website.

The problem with domestic silver is the high premium unless you can find spot deals or + $0.99. In addition, silver is not as well accepted internationally because of the premiums relative to gold plus high taxes.
