Healthcare group urges RFK Jr to resign after remarks on cocaine and toilet seats

A prominent healthcare advocacy group is calling for the US health secretary, Robert F Kennedy Jr, to step down from his post after he downplayed Covid-19 risks by saying: “I’m not scared of a germ. I used to snort cocaine off of toilet seats.”

Kennedy, who was appointed secretary of the federal health and human services (HHS) department despite his avowed anti-vaccine activism, made that remark on the 12 February episode of Theo Von’s podcast This Past Weekend.

The president of Protect Our Care, Brad Woodhouse, issued a one-word statement on Kennedy’s comments: “Resign.”

The group added that Kennedy’s comment about cocaine – which as recently as 2023 was involved in nearly 30,000 overdose deaths in the US – “continues to lay bare why he is the most dangerous … person ever to lead such an important federal agency”.

Come to think of it, I bought little baggies and foil packets from strangers too, shared bongs and pipes with them...

That is a pretty weird thing to say. It opens questions about why cocaine would be on a toilet seat in the first place.
I am curious about the facts of cocaine overdose deaths, and how they compare to others, such as surgical errors, and medical incompetence which contributed to direct deaths or lives lost due to practitioners who are superbly educated, but are too stupid to diagnose a problem that was not part of their "education".

Cocaine fries your brain.

Okay, good to know. My only references are Sherlock Holmes (7% solution), "King of Lies" by Eric Clapton, and some fire safety tips from Richard Pryor.

In all fairness, I am hitting the menthol pretty hard for a bad cough. I don't think it is frying my brain, but maybe that is an insidious side-effect of this drug.
