What's the official time the calendar clicks over? Eastern Deadlight Time? When the fake ball drops?

That's 2200 locally.

Meantime, the rubes in the trailer park behind the apartment-house property (yeah, classy neighborhood; this city used to be a village and used to have no zoning)

...they've been shooting off guns for an hour. A few fireworks, too - but I've spent a lot of time on the range; I know a gunshot from a bottle-rocket.

They're not bruddahs, nor La Raza, so I'm not worried about THAT - but, even if you shoot straight up, that bullet WILL land somewhere. People get killed every New Year's from idiots shooting off guns like that.

True.

Depending on the angle that the Gun is fired at, the bullet can still penetrate & kill when it returns to earth.

Crans Montana. Dozens dead, about 100 severely burned. Update at

Crans Montana is not facing a happy new year as we learn of the death of tens of young people celebrating at a disco tech called Le Constellation Crans Montana is a tiny ski village in the mountains of Valais in Switzerland. It is frequently by tourists from all around the world who have come to Ski in the mountains.

For the first time ever fireworks had been banned on New Year’s Eve due to lack of rain and the fire risk. Despite this, there were many vendors of fireworks on the streets and on New Year’s Eve a large number of fireworks were set off.

It seems that the fire was started by a firework, most likely a Roman candle which was held too close to the ceiling which may have been made of polished starring and caught fire. The flames propagated rapidly and quickly spread through the rest of the building through the air-conditioning units so people who were on the ground floor and first floor also found themselves trapped. The disc attack where the fire started was underground and the staircase to the exit was very narrow, which caused complete panic because a huge number of people were trying to escape and falling over each other and couldn’t get out.

The story I read was, it was caused by a waitress rigging candles into the necks of wine bottles.

As Pilate said, what is Truth? Truth and the German/Germanic mouth, never connect.

And what are the Swiss, but just the upper-crust (floating pond scum) from out of the Vaterland?

Seconds to Escape: Why Switzerland’s Deadly Flashover Fire Spread FAST

In the early hours of New Year’s Day 2026, a celebration in Crans-Montana turned into a fight for survival.

What was supposed to be a night of celebration at "Le Constellation" became one of Switzerland’s deadliest modern tragedies. In just moments, a small ignition point transformed into a lethal flashover, leaving those inside with only seconds to escape. But how did the fire spread so fast? And why were the building's defenses unable to stop it?

In this video, we break down the forensic timeline of the Crans-Montana fire. We analyze the science of the flashover phenomenon, the role of interior materials in fire acceleration, and the harrowing accounts from survivors who made it out just in time.

"I Couldn’t Breathe!" Hero Risked Life Twice to Save Friends in Deadly Swiss Fire | APT

A 19-year-old hero risked his life twice to save friends during the deadly New Year fire at Le Constellation bar in Crans-Montana, Switzerland.

Ferdinand Du Beaudiez, from France, described the horrifying moments inside the blaze, saying: “I felt this fireball over my head… I couldn’t breathe!”

He rescued severely burned friends, while his brother remains in a coma.

The fire reportedly started from fireworks on champagne bottles that ignited the bar’s highly flammable ceiling foam, spreading rapidly. Ferdinand criticized the bar’s lack of emergency exits, calling it “impossible for this place to operate safely.”

Authorities are still investigating the cause and safety failures at the bar. Over 40 people were killed and more than 100 injured during the tragedy.

The Fucking Stupidity is mind blowing when u get some detail 😲

Rule 1 - Heat rises.

Rule 2 - Don't put Flammable materials above a heat source.

That's it - Simple :hello:

Apart from a dozen other issues, Recency Bias is a huge trap. Mmm, it didn't happen yesterday & it didn't happen today, so it probably won't happen tomorrow. So I don't need to give it any thought. " It " being any situation/circumstance/condition u would like to fill in.
