Is Oil Blocked or Flowing? Co-Founder of Tanker Trackers Samir Madani Joins WGOW Shipping

n this episode of What's Going on With Shipping?, host Sal Mercogliano sits down with Samir Madani, Co-Founder of TankerTrackers.com, to analyze real-time maritime intelligence and determine the true state of global crude and refined product flows.

With escalating tensions across critical maritime choke points—from the Strait of Hormuz to the Red Sea—separating headline noise from actual AIS and satellite tracking data is more vital than ever. Samir breaks down how dark fleets operate, how tanker traffic is really moving, and what the numbers reveal about global energy security.

Key Discussion Points & Takeaways:
The Reality of Global Choke Points: An in-depth look at vessel movements through critical bottlenecks like the Strait of Hormuz, Bab el-Mandeb, and the Suez Canal.
Behind the Data with TankerTrackers: How satellite imagery, AIS tracking, and proprietary intelligence decode real oil shipments vs. phantom movements.
Dark Fleets & Sanctions Evasion: How crude continues to move through ship-to-ship (STS) transfers, spoofing, and flag changes.
Supply Chain & Market Impacts: What disrupted trade routes mean for global freight rates, insurance premiums, and tanker capacity.
Strategic Outlook: Where commercial shipping and geopolitical friction head next in the Middle East and beyond.

Trump reportedly warned by advisers Iran conflict could last beyond his presidency

Top White House advisers, including US Vice President JD Vance and Secretary of State Marco Rubio, have privately warned President Donald Trump that the conflict with Iran could extend through the remainder of his presidency, the Wall Street Journal reported Wednesday, citing US officials.

The report said Vance, Rubio and other officials have told Trump that Iran could continue holding out against American economic and military pressure, extending the conflict beyond the US presidential inauguration in January 2029.

“President Trump has destroyed Iran’s military capabilities and is crippling what’s left of its abysmal economy with the most powerful naval blockade in world history and crushing sanctions,” a White House spokesperson told the newspaper in response. “Only President Trump knows what he will do and when.”

The Iran Your Government is Hiding From You

Iran is one of the most talked-about and misunderstood countries in the world. From the outside, most of what we see is politics, conflict, protests and tension. But what does everyday life actually look like once you leave the headlines behind?

In this video, we travel across northern Iran from the Kurdish mountains, through small villages and remote towns, meeting people along the way and seeing a side of the country that rarely makes it onto Western television. From dramatic mountain roads to unexpected encounters, this journey challenged a lot of the assumptions we had about Iran — and showed us just how complicated the reality really is.

Welcome to Iran!

How the Houthi advance in Yemen could disrupt global trade | DW News

Sep 10, 2026 #dwnews #houthis #redsea
Yemen's Houthi rebel forces have seized control of the strategic port city of Mocha, on Yemen's Red Sea coast. The move puts the Iran-backed rebel group closer to controlling the Bab el-Mandeb Strait, a key chokepoint for global trade. Shipping routes have already come under pressure as a result of the ongoing war between the US and Iran and its effect on another vital bottleneck: the Strait of Hormuz. Now oil prices have jumped to over $100 a barrel again — the highest price in the last two months.
If you want to know more about the Houthis' advance and its repercussions, check out our coverage here: • Is a new Iran war front opening in Yemen? ...

Interesting...

Mind blowing data:

- There been over 65,000 Islam terror attacks since 9/11 across 70 countries
- The world’s 4 other major religions, Christianity, Hinduism, Judaism and Buddhism make up 2% of all religiously motivated terror attacks
- Muslims are responsible for the other 98%

This is what we need to remember on September 11th. The world doesn’t really have a terrorist problem, the world has a Muslim problem. The problem is Islam

A breakdown of the over 65,000 million terrorist attacks:

Top countries by attack count:

- Afghanistan 17,075
- Somalia 10,768
- Iraq 8,209
- Nigeria 3,950
- Syria 3,421

Deadliest groups by deaths attributed:

- Taliban 71,965
- Islamic State and branches 69,641
- Boko Haram 26,081
- Al-Shabaab 21,784
- Al-Qaeda 14,856
- Those five account for 82% of deaths

Average deaths is about 3.7 deaths per attack

This is Islam. Islam is not compatible with Western Civilization
