Desperate Times at PIIGS High - watch out Spicoli!

“Another amendment to the budget proposes a one-off levy for households to declare gold held off the books, in a move that could potentially yield the state more than 2 billion euros.”

Gee Yathink the Mob is not going to get their end ?

The problem the Italians have is they really dont make much. Export much. They dont have much in the way of mineral or oil reserves. They have to pay for the welfare state and their immigration is out of control and they take to many in that dont have skills unlike Spain which only takes skilled migrants.

Now America has its share of problems and a terrible debt problem but also America is an extremely wealthy country. I'll say this for the Italians tho, the only Industry that really rebounded from COVID was tourism. Americans love going to Italy and the Italians love American tourists. Ive never been treated so well as I have been in the times Ive been in Italy so I wish them well.

Only way it'll help, is if after they pay down their debt they quit running it up.
