12 RIDICULOUS Things I Thought Were Good Ideas When SUPER Drunk

Jun 16, 2026
When I was super drunk, my definition of a "good idea" was very different from reality. Looking back, some of the things I did seemed perfectly sensible at the time... but now they're completely ridiculous!

I was smoking 30 a day – I had a heart attack at 48

Watching the colour drain from my mum’s and wife’s faces, I felt an overwhelming sense of guilt.

It was like I was watching them being told I was dead already.

I’d been having chest pains for a couple of days, but instead of being concerned, I’d continuously put it down to stress. It was only after my wife kept on at me to go to hospital and get it checked that I finally discovered the truth…

I noticed my BP goes down after a glass of red wine and some THC in the afternoon. It hits 150s/105, but after meds it is 118/74 today. Go figure?

We all gotta find our own way. Even those who choose the fast way into the box.

Me...I'd cut WAY down on booze-use; but back some months ago my BP was starting to be elevated.

So...time to rule out the obvious things...I'd cut down salt some time back, now it's time to cut off the likker completely.

I haven't checked my pressure lately (what's the point? Gonna go in for a tele-physical next week) but I have noticed this: It's been hot here, a week now...and with our bran-spankin'-new Data Center down the road, the electric rates have jumped 40 percent. So, in the interest of not throwing money away, I've opted to live with the heat.

Which somehow is a lot easier than it has been in summers past.

<lesson learned>

I used to drink three bottles of wine a day, but was convinced I wasn’t an alcoholic

The restaurant cleaner got the fright of his life when he found me under the table. I had been eating there earlier that night, but had drunk so much that I had passed out – something my friends found hilarious. They put a tablecloth over me and left me there for the staff to find some hours later.

Despite spending decades drinking to the point of passing out, I never believed I was an alcoholic. Those were people who sat on park benches with a bottle of White Lightning and put vodka on their cornflakes, not professionals who drank £30 bottles of wine. That’s why I can understand Andrew Lloyd Webber feeling the same way: “When you’re a wine drinker, you don’t think of yourself as… well, alcoholics drink spirits.” It is only recently, he has said, that he has admitted he is an alcoholic, and has auctioned off his expensive wine collection to finally get away from his addiction.

I've personally watched people in a bar play the poker machines and have seen several people hit big (3 maybe 4K or more) which is very rare. But I've watched people loose a sh*t load of $$$$.

Seems the more they drank the more they thought they'd hit. Doesn't work that way. What they put in (the machine) the owner pulls out. What's the old saying about the house always........

That's why Vegas casinos used to provide free drinks to players.

Used to. Vegas is now corporatized, and the two duopoly corporate players seem to be run by people who don't understand what made Vegas work. The aim now is apparently to bleed the assets - nickel and dime the patrons, get every last dollar they can, and if they don't return, fine...the various casinos, operated as subsidiaries in the corporate chain, are intended to be bankrupted and the land sold.

...sold? To who? Why, to THEM. EVERYONE knows land prices only go UP...

This is why I say the megacorporations don't have a clue. Vegas, with the customer-base alienated, the attractions all overpriced or just no longer there (e.g. free drinks at the tables) and with empty, bankrupted huge casinos up and down a ghost-town Strip...land in such a situation is gonna sell like land in Detroit former-neighborhoods.

Alcohol is a product so tightly woven into our society that we struggle to see what it's really doing to us. Despite documented links between alcohol and cancer, heart and liver disease, over half of all drinkers think their own consumption doesn’t raise their risk for serious health problems. Horizons moderator William Brangham explores more with Lev Facher, Marissa Esser and Priscilla Martinez.

Alcohol vs. THC: Which one is actually worse for your body? We use real human cadavers to reveal how these substances travel through your organs and change your brain chemistry in fundamentally different ways.
In this video, Jonathan from the Institute of Human Anatomy explores the physiological reality of how alcohol and THC interact with your body’s systems. By analyzing real anatomical structures, we break down why alcohol acts as a total system depressant that causes structural organ damage, while THC hijacks the endocannabinoid system to distort neural signaling. From the liver’s conversion of 11-hydroxy-THC in edibles to the toxic production of acetaldehyde from alcohol, you’ll see the clinical truth behind blackouts, the munchies, and long-term health risks like cirrhosis and cancer.

Alcohol or THC: Which is Worse?

Sounds kinda like an AGENDA.

Now that they've won over tobacco - and society is several notches moar uptight, denied a centuries-old relaxant - now they're gonna revisit PROHIBITION!

Tha'ss right. Ban alcohol, too...this time it's different, we can use Flock and CBDCs to ban alcohol sales!

The ONE intoxicant we'll permit, is the one that makes you stoo-pidd....POT!

The one material that previously was only found in backwards African tribal cultures. NO civilized society had pot, janga, hemp, or similar, as a permitted intoxicant.

Was talking to a gal about a moth ago about what happens at a dispensary she uses. In PA you need a medical card.

I don't think booze will ever be banned. Way to much $$$$ involved. But the Flock cameras could be used to watch peeps come out of bar parking lots and get the drivers for DUI. In PA DUIs are big $$$$.

As for me, exercise and good living get me off.
