Mexico Criminals Rob Truck Full of Gold, Silver Concentrate

Armed thieves robbed a truck carrying 33 tons of gold and silver concentrate belonging to Grupo Minero Bacis, costing the company millions of dollars in losses.

Assailants blocked the semi-truck with two white-colored vehicles, assaulted the driver and the accompanying security guards, and held them hostage for an hour and a half, according to a company statement. The truck, which was bound for the Pacific port of Manzanillo, was recovered, but the attached trailer containing the gold and silver concentrate was not, the company said.

Last time I was in that 3rd world craphole, I think it was Cancun, I remember the armored trucks had contingents of soldiers carrying M16A2's and looking very serious. It reminded me of my time in Turkey, when they too were very serious with the province being under Martial Law. Back then, circa 1979, you'd be driving into town and the Turkish army would have a road block with the soldiers and cops tossing cars looking for terrorists and drug dealers. In the middle of the highway they'd park a tank and an armored half track. A Tank ! that would swivel its turret around to show they meant business.

Yeah, the Turks ? They were beautiful. They'd scramble a fighter plane and have it fly up and down the town of Adana just to make a statement. I think F-105s if I remember right.

Anyway...in Mexico. That same trip we and another couple rented a car to go see an archeological site. I was driving down the main drag when a Mexican cop stepped out from behind a bush and waved us down. I stopped thinking he might need help but what he was really doing was shaking down gringo's for $USD. He said I was "doing $20 over the limit" which was ridiculous, I wasn't speeding and even if I was how would he know hiding in the bushes like that ?

I decided I'd had enough of the 3'rd world. Even in Costa Rica, which is more like the 51'st state, they'd have to have armed guards at cash stations and they failed to tell the gringo tourists about their crocodile problem and that the crocs would swim out to open sea near the trendy surfing spots. Occasionally eating a gringo.

Its just more Govt. breathing down our necks but they normally dont malfunction. I dont like the automated speed/traffic cameras either.

Cops lie all the time in America. Do the cameras lie, not really, but they are placed very deceptively in places. Let's not act like Cops shaking down people is exclusive to Mexico.

Mexico needs to go under martial law for about a year to get rid of the cartels.

Well I did it for 33 years and I can tell you its nothing like in the 3'rd world, which I also spent a lot of time in. Yes there is some corruption but its very little and cops just dont give a damn enough to Lie about anything. Now its just 8 hours trying to stay out of trouble and you go home. The real corruption is on the Political Level and some does filter down the ladder.

Look at the Bidens and all they got away with. Or the Clintons. In Chicago we got a Mayor who spends $30,000 a year on his hair. You think that $30,000 is coming out of his own bank ? But all these fools still go out and vote for these hucksters and then come home whining about all the Lying cops because the cops hand out traffic tickets while the Politicians just steal.

Its pathetic. Really.

The cartels are not that bad. They do keep the government in check. I suspect that's why Trump is going after them. I'm sure they do plenty of despicable things in their own right but its not like its all bad.

I listen to the Dollar Vigilante and Max Igan on most of this info. They both moved to Mexico.

I was a Chicago cop for 33 years and I didn't have much time for television nor did I mention just fentanyl, or fentanyl at all. Chicago is the main transshipment point for the Sinaloa cartel and theres nothing "simple" about them. These drug cartels give new meaning to the word "ruthless" and only a simpleton would think different. A "simple Mexican cartel" ? Boy thats precious.

All drug dealers can and will be ruthless... including our own Clown agencies.

You know how to stop it.... make them legal.

I appreciate the sentiment.

When it comes down to it, cops and judges always side with the government. Because they sign their checks, and that's Most of our problems. They steal money at gunpoint (usually done by a cop) and then distribute it back to cops and others. Looks like a shakedown to me.

Never even said how much gold or silver is in the truck... Gonna be even harder to sell concentrate. Like 3 refiners that buy it and they are all in china. These criminals are more connected than you think or they're gonna be disappointed and just dump it.

It's a criminal network. Somebody did not pay their protection and got robbed.

They would not bother to steal it if they did not have a way to fence the goods.
