That industry has been taken over by the illegals - with fake documentation from Trashkanistan, and then, Califuktardistan just issued CDLs using the unverified fake information provided.

Those two recent accidents are just the tip of the iceberg. Doubt me? Go to a truck stop, in jeans and wearing a green safety vest (to blend in) and just listen for a couple of hours.

Beyond that, the new Hours-of-Service laws (not enforced on the Jackass Party's favorite flavor of truck-driver) is nearly impossible to comply with.

A 100-year-old bodybuilder’s No. 1 secret to living a long, healthy life: ‘Know what you want to accomplish. Commit yourself to it’​

For the past eight decades, Andrew Bostinto has trained for bodybuilding, and he still competes today at 100 years old.

This May, just four months after his 100th birthday, Bostinto won top honors and a championship belt at National Gym Association Inc.’s (NGA) physique contest. He’s also the founder and CEO of NGA, a not-for-profit bodybuilding association.

“I never thought about getting old. This is what I do today, I’ll do this tomorrow,” Bostinto tells CNBC Make It.

Bostinto has had a lifelong committment to fitness. “I started much younger than 13. I was working out in the park already,” he says. “I became good at it. I became a gymnast and hand balancer. Then at 17, I was already modeling.”

I dunno how all those Socialist inSecurity recipients will make it. I have a cushion (and a slightly larger monthly income) but most of them do not.

I guess this is Ted Turner's Club-Of-Rome wet-dream coming to fruition. Culling the herd...they tried it with the Jab, and the easy pickin's are gone now (and a lot of old folks very sick, and I see them right here) but now it's time for moar-painful cuts.

I'm wondering how much medicare will go up. Any raise in it will take away from the increase.

I know Medicare Advantage is getting squeezed.

I had their zero-cost-to-me program; the carrier declined to offer it this year; and I'm being pushed into a garbage company's policy. An insurance company known for not paying.

Thass fine, I have VA coverage - so I have access to TWO tiers of substandard care. Hey, nobody lives forever...

The bill — called the Social Security Emergency Inflation Relief Act — is backed by Democratic Senators including Mark Kelly of Arizona, Alex Padilla of California, Tammy Duckworth of Illinois, Angela Alsobrooks and Chris Van Hollen of Maryland, Elizabeth Warren of Massachusetts, Tina Smith of Minnesota, Kirsten Gillibrand and Chuck Schumer of New York, Ron Wyden of Oregon and Peter Welch of Vermont.

What about those 120-year-olds from Soviet Georgia, featured in a National Geographic Magazine full article in the 1970s?

It was not fluff. The Soviet authorities gave access to the NG writer and a few anthropologists, to interview about five 100-plus individuals. Of course they had no official records, but the anthropologists' estimates on their ages, based on memories (vividness of individual events) and similar clues, figured they were, by individual, from ages approximately correct to ages overstated by 10-15 years.

Here's the kicker: ALL of them smoked, the harsh, unfiltered cigarettes available in the Soviet Union. Many of them drank vodka or wine, and some drank daily.

So much for all the recipes for long life. Again, remember Jim Fixx...

That's a young person saying it.

At some point, some of those things are no longer rewarding. Now, I grant, exercise is not just beneficial - it's imperative. Here where the winter's not gentle, I do laps on an indoor track. I'm able to run in short bursts - which is great improvement from a year ago, when I was shuffling from my hip injury.

It's not fun. A lot of biological imperatives are not fun. You do them because you must.

But some of the others? After being a nerdy misfit teen, and then having a job that had me essentially alone, working nights, driving taxis, then buses, then trains...and having lived alone for 36 years...now, I'm retired, and I'm finding a lot of women, mostly 5-10 years older, are nearly desperate for company.

I'm happy to talk. As long as they want. But, what then? Pair up? Sex just isn't. That's not just me, either - an athletic 75-year-old who lived in the building; who met her long-ago high-school beau when he was in town for a vacation trip...and who decided to basically run away with him, both of them being widowed...she commented to me, as we were helping her move out, how much she just HATED what age does to the body. I can feel for her. Met her guy, too - my take was he had first stages of Al's Hammer. But that wasn't my business. It was, however, a realization that I wasn't alone in my opinions.

I've lived alone so long I don't think I could adapt to domesticity. It scares me that the Coming Collapse probably will have me having to share quarters.

But, some of the others? Climb a mountain? I've climbed a few, including Pike's Peak; Blue Mountain in the Adirondacks (easy marked trail) and some other second-rate trails. I loved hiking. "Loved" is the operative. In Grand Canyon, I explored on foot quite a bit, but various steeper trails just wore me down. AND...there's the reality that you may need help - anything from broken bones to a low-blood-sugar episode.

Bottom line is, it's just not fun.

Which is why, so many oldsters don't do what the kids do.

Seriously. I remember my first time in a casino - 1989. The (soon-to-be) ex and I were having a vacation. She always wanted to see the Grand Canyon. I always wanted to see the West, more broadly. I had never been further west than Texas, at that point, with most of my life on Lake Erie's shores, either NY or OH.

I was an adult student, and my summer job got cut off. She was a worker-bee and had two weeks' vacation. Neither had money. So, we hatched a plan: I'd take a month, and drive from Ohoho to Las Vegas, camera clicking; and she'd fly to Vegas - in an era where round-trip flights were $39. I'd meet her at the airport, we'd drive to the Canyon, do all the things, come back, plant her back on a plane, and I'd make my leisurely trip home.

It wasn't nearly that smooth in practice, but that's another book-length story.

But what I found - and saw later, working in California and Nevada for a railroad contractor - was these discolored, deformed, flabby cousins of Jabba the Hutt, parked on stools at slot machines. Often working three machines at once. It was almost mechanical - a money-wasting machine, with three lines, three machines, operating. Smoking cheap off-brand cigarettes; drinking bottom-shelf complementary drinks; often with walker or cane at the ready.

It looked about as much fun as waiting in the dentist's office.

I played the slots - for ten minutes, that first time. Curiosity sated. I won a couple dollars, but I was negative.

I came to Vegas many times later - for the cheap rooms on weekends; for the midnight Steak-and-Egg Buffets, ($4.95, all you can eat, Golden Nugget) for a couple of shows, and always to girl-watch, and try my luck there (after the ex drop-kicked me out). But aside from video poker machines in bar countertops, I NEVER played any machines, or table games, again.

And now, if you're following the nooze out of Vegas...all of that is gone. The room rate has launched into the stratosphere. Hidden charges abound. Service is non-existent - you have automated check-in kiosks and customer-service is via Zoom to the Philippines. And the buffets are now $50, not $5, and the food is garbage.

You have to be an established high-roller to get any kind of service. And foot traffic in these casinos is down over 40 percent.

(That's private-equity buying into MGM Resorts and Wynn, BTW...they don't know what they're doing; they don't care about the future; they only want an increase per-visit, per day, per "customer")
 

Social Security benefits are still taxed in some states. Why there’s a push to change that​

  • There’s a campaign to end taxes on Social Security benefits at the federal and state levels.
  • A new temporary federal senior deduction of up to $6,000 per individual aims to curb the amount of taxes people age 65 and over pay on benefits.
  • Meanwhile, residents of eight states may pay taxes on their Social Security benefits depending on their income.
There’s a push to end taxes on Social Security benefits to help retirees keep more money in their pockets.

That includes not only federal levies that may apply to that income, but also state taxes that may apply to benefits.

“Currently, eight states still tax Social Security to some degree,” John Hishta, senior vice president of campaigns at AARP, said during a Jan. 15 briefing on the 2026 tax filing season.

Estate taxes. Where our property, taxed once on earning, is taxed AGAIN before children or beneficiaries can receive it.

Just as your tax refunds are taxed as income.

Don't look for fairness out of a system designed by people like a Somalian product of incest and a Puerto Rican barmaid.
 
Now now, can't blame this on just those two, plenty of republicans and democrats had a hand in this and Trump COULD have ended this already if he wasn't pleasing the tiny hat club first.
