plane fire- do you grab your bag?

there was a fire in vegas and folks are livid that others grabbed their bag before getting off.

would you grab your bag?

I see FEMA deny people to their own house - in NEPA homeowners were locked out of their homes for weeks when some fatally shot a cop- they let you back when they decide. IT is even stricter when there is a fire- they train those guys- get humans out and they cant go back in.

what I needed medications are in that bag? I am going to grab my bag.

I think now they want laws to be passed over this.

If they were holding me up I would have smashed them in the throat, shoved them down in to a seat and passed them by. The fucking plane is on fire because the engine just exploded and fell off the plane you jackass. We're getting off. You can get your laptop when we're all safely off this aircraft. Then, if you haven't already been completely been engulfed by burning JP-8, you can gather up your porn collection on your precious laptop and join us in a hundred yard dash on the tarmac to a safe distance from the burning wreckage.

I saw the same idiocy on an Asian flight that crash landed some time back. There were a bunch of people that got killed, yet these idiots had all their luggage and were trundling away from the plane taking fucking selfies. What a bunch of nihilistic jerks. The lot of them would die in a month if TSHTF tomorrow. Good riddance I say. There are way too many selfish bastards walking the face of this planet these days, and I don't care for it one little bit.

If the plane were on fire, I'm getting the hell out of there. I don't mind jumping over seats if the aisle is blocked. I'll take some bruises and pulled muscles over suffocation or burning alive any day.

I try to get seats in the emergency exit aisles (more leg room), so if that option is available, I'll be one of the first out the (emergency exit) door.

If someone is drowning in water they will drowned the other person- so I understand that.


I see too many times tho that "they" dont let you into your own house because it isnt "safe". So I dont think they will let you get back on the plane... how is me grabbing the backpack with my rxes in any different then a woman taking her purse?

People take too much with them- I travel light. I would fully expect pushing and shoving and to be black and blue in the fire situation.

Taking pictures is dumb- in a crises- I would want to make sure I had enough battery for necessary calls- texts

Fair enough Penn, but as I said, and I stand firmly by it, EVEREYTHING is replaceable. That means medicine as well. If that medicine is that important to you, then don't place it in the overhead, and carry it in your pocket. Someone stopping to open the overhead compartment in a plane that is on fire because it just exploded and everyone on it is in full panic mode trying to get past them deserves to get trampled to death. Period.

There is NOTHING in the overhead bin that you or anyone else put there that is more valuable than my life, and trying to justify stopping the evacuation for a minute by saying "Well, it's important medicine" is bullshit. If it's that important, then keep it on your person, so if the airplane catches fire, and everyone needs to get off a burning airplane, we don't have to wait for you to dig it out of the bin, because you're blocking the aisle, along with some other person with some other equally "important" nonsense in the overhead bin.

There can be no justification for slowing down the immediate evacuation of a burning plane whatsoever, except maybe dying in the aisle of a heart attack. And in that case, if it's me, you have my permission to climb over my corpse to safety.

I would suspect cause you're one of those types that would be grabbing for their favorite pillow as the plane burns. I'll give you just one example of why I am of the mindset I am, as how as I was raised. One time when I was about 9 or 10 years old, my dad, several of my uncles and myself had gone to an enduro stock car race at the state fair, which normal races got out by 10:30-11:00pm but this was and enduro event which went well past and it was well after midnight when the race let out. The parking lot entrance most everyone came in had been locked shut and it would have taken a good hour or more to walk all the way around to the main entrance, if that was still open even. Then they have a rule that all cars left overnight will be towed, and midnight is their cutoff. So now you have a few thousand people standing next to a 20 foot barbed wire topped fence seeing a couple tow trucks pull in. My uncle asked my dad if he had his "tools" with him, and my dad always carried his lock picking tools with him back then, but really didn't want to pick the lock with so many people looking. But soon others stared trying to rip apart the fence and a few climb over, so my dad backed off to let them all go crazy, but soon a guy in a wheel chair came up and people were saying stuff like we could drag him under the fence and throw his chair over, and even worse ideas. We could all see the fear in that guys eyes and my dad said fuck it! He pulled out his picks and had the first lock opened in minutes, and when the door opened my dad wanted to let the guy in the wheel chair and his family go through first but a bunch of people started running through and my dad and uncles started grabbing them and throwing them back, then the guys family started helping too, along with a few other people, a few that got lippy got dropped (my family come from a long line of scrappers) and that was the end of that. He opened a few more locks after the handicap guy was out, and by then the tow truck guys ran for their lives. So you see, it's been kind of a family tradition not to suffer fools too much, so if you are person who really isn't sure whether yours (and everyone else) lives are more important than "stuff" I really don't have time to put up with the foolishness.

I would have to be in the exact situation- but I am thinking my tote would be in the seat in front of me. I doubt it would be over head- because you cant see who is in the bin. With extra fees I doubt I would have a 2nd bag. I am pretty much come as you are guy. I find I dont even ask to go to the store with neigbhors- because I could be gone and back before she(s) even gets her purse.

I carry only needed things in my wallet and so on.

If you seen me do errands- I am fast. I am know to thru my body language shoe the shopper checking out to go faster by inching ahead and hinting to go faster. I dont like folks to waste my time. So most likely I would be one of the people pushing and shoving- you know the fat women with 3 kids is going to grab the diaper bag and all the bags and the kitchen sink- and she is going to be gabbing on her cell phone as she is still on the burning plane

The fat woman at the check out with 3 kids isn't a concern as far as my or others safety. While it certainly may be annoying, if you're in a hurry especially, it's not life threatening. Obviously if she does it on the burning plane, different story. While I used to fly a fair bit, back in the days it was enjoyable to fly, since 9/11 I've only flown a few times, and will only do it if I absolutely have to. I've tended to notice it's not a fat lady with a couple kids that are as bothersome on a plane, but some guy in $3,000 suit in first class who has a shit fit that his jacked got brushed by they fat lady with 3 kids. There again, if the planes not on fire he's more of an annoyance and hardly life threatening. So if either one of them were threatening lives, I believe in equal rights for bot sexes and for all social classes, so would have no problem tossing either of them out of the way to save lives. While it's nice to hear you aren't one of those who would bother getting stuff out of overhead during an emergency, it still boggles my mind why anyone would even pose the question in a serious manner, unless you meant it rhetorically, which it didn't seem like it was posed that way.

Because I am not working and have 24-7 to ponder these things. Thats why I posted it.

I have no idea what your point is.

What he's saying is that the burning plane question is a moral question. Rhetorical really. It really is a right versus wrong question. If you have to ask, then......

Me? I know it's wrong, GTF off the plane, everything else is secondary.......everything. If the person in front of me falls down, I bend down and yank them back up. I carry them if needed, but they come off that plane.
