The Polygon Proof-of-Stake (PoS) sidechain has successfully executed the Napoli hard fork, adding support for Dencun features and making it the first network to support RIP-7212.

The Napoli hard fork introduces three significant upgrades from Ethereum’s recent Dencun hard fork, namely EIP-1153: Transient Storage, EIP-6780: SELFDESTRUCT, and EIP-5656: memory copying instruction.
...
Polygon has also announced plans to incorporate support for EIP-4844, a critical fee-reducing upgrade featured in Dencun.

This integration is expected to be part of Polygon’s upcoming Feijoa upgrade, scheduled for release in May.

One of the key highlights of the Napoli hard fork is the inclusion of RIP-7212, an upgrade that opens doors for mainstream interoperability.

Its adoption enables greater interoperability with mainstream technologies and devices, with potential applications in storing keys within iPhone secure enclaves and facilitating various verification processes.

This news is related to the Ethereum Dencun update news. Polygon (MATIC) is a layer 1 network that competed with Ethereum. The Polygon dev team has also built a Polygon (POL) layer 2 token on top of Ethereum. It seems to have a very active development team - always at the forefront or in the mix of new advancements in the Ethereum ecosystem.

Apparently, Polygon will be transitioning the MATIC tokens to a new POL token. From Sep. 2023:
Polygon 2.0, unveiled in June, is a set of proposed upgrades that radically reimagine almost every aspect of the Polygon ecosystem. Today, three Polygon Improvement Proposals (PIPs) were released that lay out the specific changes that, following community endorsement, will begin to take place in early Q4 of this year.

The PIPs published today describe the technical details for Phase 0 of building a network of interconnected zero knowledge-powered L2 chains that scale Ethereum to the size of the Internet. The proposals include an outline of the transition, specifications for the upgraded token of the Polygon 2.0 architecture, and updates to Polyon PoS native token.
