Don't you guys have a legal quirk where the accuser has to be able to testify in court, thus making camera fines null and void?
That's the usual method for court.

I think they'll get the people to send in the cash instead of bothering with an appearance.

There's also in the law that it must be a sworn officer witnessing the offense that issues said ticket... i.e., a human.

Currently in the land of fruits and nuts (and $5.89/gal regular ethanol gas) and these cameras are all over. Along with “wolfpacks” of CHPs lined up to pull over drivers going a few over.

Have to say i came around a corner doing 70 in a 55 and the patrolman had some leniency to not come after me.

Alaska has kept red-light cameras illegal so far.

While I do object to redlight cameras, I do wish people would follow the law and come to a full stop at red-light including "Right turn on red" stops.

I believe that only counts in criminal offenses.

Now, states differ on labeling violations...some call them Civil Infractions; some, Minor Misdemeanors, or some such. Now, you don't need a witness to a parking ticket, say - just that your car is there and it's not supposed to be there. Even if no one saw you park it.

I believe red-light tickets were somehow, variously, downgraded or otherwise skated around. I know in Ohio, 20 years ago, people were hopping mad...a lot of it was deliberate, as traffic-light cycles had been changed to "catch" moar "violators." One I got nailed on, at 0300 (coming off work) at a very-busy (in the daytime) intersection...the green-yellow-red cycle was changed, from a two-second yellow to about a half-second yellow. Barely enough to react to.

I came up on it, empty city boulevard, damn light dropped in my face...I locked up the brakes (this was before ABS was common in cars) and slid through the intersection like a Hollywood stunt driver. I came to stop three-quarters through...no traffic, anywhere, what the hell. I just drove off.

...and got a summons in the mail. Fortunately, I was able to get time off to go to court to argue with the fat female graduate of Ghetto Law Skeul, who became Da Judge.

My "Not Guilty" plea was accepted. I had planned a subpoena of all violations in that 24-hour period, and had taken a video (not so easy, before smartphones) of the short yellow.

So, basically, I lost a day's pay. But that fat water buffalo didn't get the $200 to feed her traffic-court racket.

These days, of course, you can scarcely be out on a public street without being video'd by either a public-safety camera, a private-security camera, or six Ring cameras. ANYWHERE.

Meeting your accuser? That's so old-fashioned. So anti-Woke. So RAY-cyst. Bet you're a Trumptard voter. Bet you're even a cis Breeder....

Texas banned the use of red light cameras back in 2019.
