Karl Bushby approaches the end of a 27-year walk around the world

Karl Bushby is closing in on the final stretch of a journey that began before smartphones, streaming platforms or social media existed. The British walker, now 56, is less than a thousand miles from Hull, the same city he left in 1998 with a plan that many dismissed as unrealistic. His goal was to walk an unbroken line around the world without using any vehicle and without returning home until the mission was complete.

"His goal was to walk an unbroken line around the world without using any vehicle and without returning home until the mission was complete."
The story is incomplete as to how he magically transported from Russia to the US and then back to Mongolia. Then he transported to Mexico, and then to the Caspian Sea. I appreciate a story of Olympic effort, but I don't like a report that strongly smells of untruth.

He’s been walking around the world for 27 years. One of the biggest lessons he’s learned is how to be happy

Karl Bushby was 29 when he left his home city of Hull, England and took off for the adventure of a lifetime. With $500 in his pocket and some survival gear, he went on a mission that no one else in history had ever completed: walking an unbroken path around the world.

Bushby’s journey, called the “Goliath Expedition,” began in 1998 in Punta Arenas, Chile, a city near the southern tip of South America. It’s brought him across continents including the Americas, Asia and Europe, and ultimately ends with the goal of arriving back in the United Kingdom.

“The objective was simply to get home unassisted by any form of transport,” Bushby told CNBC Make It.

Walking The Entire Length of Norway - Preparations

Jan 8, 2026
The last email about the situation with the Land Rover Series, is another 6 month lead time. And instead of going insane, I'll use all the frustration and time I have on my hands doing this.
A completely stupid thing to do for some. But it is actually something I have thought about for a while. Bu never "allowed" myself to do, due to how much time it will take.
The route I have in mind is about 2 700 km and has about 47 000 m of elevation gain. But nothing is set in stone. It will be 100-200 days of wild nature and physical endurance.
BUT before I get there, there's a few months of waiting for the spring to arrive here down south in the country. And what better way to spend that, than actually preparing for the hike!

WALKING IN THE BLIZZARD- CAN PHILLY HANDLE 2 INCHES AN HOUR?

Premiered 10 hours ago #blizzard #weather #snow

26:01

Having lived all across this broad, broad US of A...I've observed.

In southwestern NY, 250 inches of snow are normal - every winter. When eight inches would come down, people would laugh. The school buses would chain up; people would get out snow machines. In my resort village, back then, someone would bring an old sleigh and a couple of horses, around Christmas.

If the roads were really bad - like, convoys behind the Vee-plows...then school would be closed. The kids would have a hunting day! Work seldom was. One snow emergency, I slept on the foreman's couch in his front room...he lived in the village. He had a job; he wasn't going to draw attention to deficits in action, since he was illiterate but the foreman (not a stupid guy; just a white-trash redneck) and HE WAS GONNA HAVE EVERYTHING UP AND RUNNING.

That's there. I'd seen a dusting shut down Houston. I've seen two inches tie the Carolinas into knots.

Denver. We hear about the horrific winter storms there, but those are rare. Denver is temperate - just that the thin air allows for extreme, rapid changes. A six-inch snow drop can arrest progress - since they don't have the snow equipment to DEAL with those crises; since dedicated snowplows (not just an asphalt dump-truck with a four-way plow on it)...those dedicated trucks would be used maybe two days a year.

THAT is what makes for these crisis conditions - lack of equipment, as well as lack of familiarity. Both of these come from, lack of planning. Road graders and spin-steers can be set up as snowplows; People can make a habit of having 30 days' food in the pantry. A secondhand generator, even, isn't that expensive.

But, stupids gonna stupe. So, again, when these once-a-decade storms hit the Elite districts, we gonna have this weeping and gnashing of teeth...

Contrary to popular belief, Vegas has laws. Among them, prostitution isn’t legal and you generally can’t own exotic animals. But in Pahrump, 60 miles to the West, it’s a very different story. We visited Pahrump to see what it is like in America’s most freedom-loving town.
