West Virginia Bill Would Prohibit State Enforcement of Federal Gun Control; Past, Present and Future
CHARLESTON, W.Va. (Jan. 18, 2024) – A bill introduced in the West Virginia House would take on federal gun control; past, present and future. Passage into law would represent a major step toward ending federal acts that infringe on the right to keep and bear arms within the state and improve on an awful law passed in 2021.Del. Charles Horst introduced House Bill 4577 (HB4577) on Feb. 13. The legislation would ban any person, including any public officer or employee of the state and its political subdivisions, from enforcing any past, present or future federal “acts, laws, executive orders, administrative orders, court orders, rules, or regulations” that infringe on the right to keep and bear arms.
HB4577 is similar to a bill that passed as law in Missouri.
The passage of this bill would be a huge improvement over the fake “gun sanctuary” law passed in West Virginia during the 2021 legislative session.
