SiriusXM Sued By New York For ‘Bombarding’ Customers Who Try To Cancel Subscriptions

The attorney general of New York sued SiriusXM satellite radio for allegedly trapping customers into subscriptions by training their customer service agents to fight back against cancelation requests and "bombard" customers until they agree to keep paying, joining several other companies sued for making it too hard to cancel subscriptions—accusations SiriusXM has denied.

The office of New York AG Letitia James on Wednesday filed a lawsuit asking the entertainment company to be forced to pay several thousand dollars in fines for each violation of the state’s law against deceptive business practices, change its subscription cancellation policies and repay any customers who've tried and failed to cancel their subscriptions since Jan. 1, 2019.
