A seal galumphs into a bar. The bartender says 'Grab the salmon!'

WELLINGTON, New Zealand (AP) — A seal walked into a bar. Or to use a technical term, it galumphed.

The creature was apparently lost, curious and well below New Zealand ’s legal drinking age. It lodged itself under the dishwasher and showed no interest in calling a cab.

It was a wet, lazy Sunday evening when the baby fur seal waddled into the Sprig + Fern The Meadows craft beer bar in Richmond, at the top of New Zealand’s South Island. Accustomed to seeing animals in the pet-friendly bar, co-owner Bella Evans assumed the visitor was a dog before she took a closer look.

A Porter father is being credited with rescuing his 15-year-old daughter on Christmas afternoon after tracking her cell phone to a secluded wooded area where she was being held against her will.

The Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office (MCSO) has arrested 23-year-old Giovanni Rosales Espinoza in connection with the incident, charging him with Aggravated Kidnapping and Indecency with a Child.

According to investigators, the ordeal began around 4:50 p.m. on December 25, 2025. The teenager had left her home in the 4000 block of Conner Mills Court to walk her dog. When she failed to return at her usual time, her parents grew concerned and utilized parental control software to ping her phone’s location.

US sees net negative migration for first time in decades

FoxNews

More immigrants left the United States than those who entered the country in 2025 — an occurrence that happened for the first time in at least a half a century, according to a new report from economists.

The report published this week by the Brookings Institution said, "There was a significant drop-off in entries to the United States in 2025 relative to 2024 and an increase in enforcement activity leading to removals and voluntary departures."

"We estimate that net migration was between –10,000 and –295,000 in 2025, the first time in at least half a century it has been negative," it continued. "In our assessment, net migration is likely to be very low or negative in 2026 as well."
