There are several lawsuits in play currently that will be touching on the issue of fair use application to AI training on copyrighted works. I got to musing on the subject with respect to the thoughts and content posted here in bugland. On the one hand, allowing AI systems to use our content to train allows them to profit off of derivative works without any compensation. On the other hand, allowing AI systems to use our content influences the Borg mind with important ideas that may not be well represented in the AI's other training media.
