Dem Senator Whines Amid GOP Push to Gut Medicaid: ‘I Just Want to Go Home'​

If Republicans manage to pass Donald Trump's so-called "Big Beautiful Bill," millions of Americans will lose access to health care, food assistance, and other critical public support programs. One would hope that Democrats - despite being the minority in both chambers - would put up the strongest fight they can against the disastrous piece of legislation.

Sen. John Fetterman's mind is on the beach.

"I just want to go home. I've missed our entire trip to the beach, my family's going to be back before we're [done]," the Pennsylvania Democrat told reporters on Monday. "Again I'm going to vote no. There's no drama with the way the votes are … But all the Democrats, we all know how that's going to do and I don't think it's really helpful to put people here till some ungodly hour."

Banks say Trump’s ‘big beautiful bill’ could boost the U.S. economy – despite deficit concerns​

  • The American Bankers Association said it “strongly supports” many provisions within the bill.
  • The bill is almost “unquestionably” good for the U.S. economy over the next few years compared to passing nothing, a Nomura economist said.
U.S. President Donald Trump’s “big, beautiful bill” — or officially, the One Big Beautiful Bill Act (OBBBA) — is a controversial piece of legislation, but some banks are in favor of it, saying it’s the shot in the arm the economy needs.

It was advanced in a narrow 51-49 vote in the U.S. Senate late Saturday, moving the large spending measure closer to the president’s desk.

US Senate passes Trump's sweeping tax-cut, spending bill, sends to House​

WASHINGTON (Reuters) -The Republican-controlled U.S. Senate passed President Donald Trump's tax and spending bill on Tuesday, signing off on a massive package that would enshrine many of his top priorities into law while adding $3.3 trillion to the national debt.

The bill now heads back to the House of Representatives for final approval. Trump has pushed lawmakers to get it to his desk to sign into law by the July 4 Independence Day holiday.

Trump admin live updates: Vance casts tie-breaking vote to pass megabill in Senate​

After three days of debate and drama, the Senate narrowly passed President Donald Trump's giant tax and immigration bill on Tuesday.

Vice President JD Vance cast the tie-breaking vote after a 50-50 tally, with three Republicans voting against the sprawling measure.

The bill must now go to the House for final approval. But it could face some issues there, especially among GOP fiscal hawks, as the Senate version is projected to add roughly $1 trillion more to the deficit than what the House passed back in May.

What the Senate Republican tax and spending bill means for your money​

Senate Republicans on Tuesday approved their version of President Donald Trump’s multitrillion-dollar tax and spending package, which could broadly impact millions of Americans’ wallets.

Similar to the House’s One Big Beautiful Bill Act advanced in May, the Senate legislation aims to make permanent Trump’s 2017 tax cuts, while adding new tax breaks for tip income, overtime pay and auto loans, among other provisions.

Pretty sure I've said this before: R or D really doesn't matter. They attack each other as talking points. Doesn't matter if it's about the budget, immigration or anything else. If they were serious they would actually get together and do something about stuff. Kicking stuff down the road enables them to rile up the clowns (us) into voting for them and keeps their rich donators happy.

Once they get elected they just keep on keeping on.

Well it is the dems fault for voting no on this last Bill that woulda prevented it.
....but a shutdown is ok too.

What I am hoping for is that they won't be able to keep having the NG helping with local police if there is a shutdown.

At this point, that would be really good imho.
 
A gov shutdown will be a good thing, this time.

Trump says he will permanently reduce the government workforce if the shutdown happens.
Ie: D.O.G.E. cuts incoming?

  • Should the shutdown last any significant amount of time, it also could delay the release of key economic data.
For all the political firestorms they generate, government shutdowns historically have been nonevents for both markets and the economy.

This time, though, could be different.

That’s because President Donald Trump’s threat to make some federal government furloughs resulting from the shutdown permanent could have longer-lasting impacts on an employment picture that already has been looking precarious.

Nothing new here, except this time the various bureaucratic agencies won't be going to ridiculous, wasteful measures to hurt the public. No cordoning off of National Forest (unattended) campgrounds. No expensive screens set up to prevent the public from seeing Mount Rushmore, while barricading a turnoff.

No, instead, the Congress-cretins will try to prevent soldiers' pay on the 15th; and see if they can find a way to impact the Left's favorite institutions - courts and schools.
 
Stupid shutdown appears to be giving gold and silver a lift today. I was hoping for a dip sale this weekend.

I don't think we'll be seeing many of those, or any meaningful dips.

We're entering the Chaos phase.

Next comes war - of course, to preserve the status-quo of the state structure. And at that point, various fiats will be speculative.

Deliveries interrupted, too. Don't expect mail, shipping, or Whole Foods deliveries to be made reliably.

How will it go? I'd say we're in worse position for war than we've ever been as a people. We have nothing but debt; but that's not insurmountable.

We ALSO have a completely fragmented and demoralized populace. The morons in the Political-Elite classes, have forgotten, or never learned, the importance of having citizen support for difficult times that require sacrifice.

Examples: A draft, today, would be met with MASSIVE resistance. And not by street agitators. Rationing...I don't care if it's coupons, or CBDCs with controls...it will quickly devolve into an Alternate Economy.

And when the State, already shipping BILLIONS in printed-up fiat (risking exposure of the Magic Dollar as worthless) they'll eventually have to send armies into our neighborhoods to disarm US.

That might work if the government were not also preoccupied with Nation-Building/asset-stripping in Russia and anywhere else they can try to.
