White Oak keepsake box

Found a long-lost board of White oak while rummaging around in a pile of mahogany in my wood shop. No telling how many years it has been there. I certainly don't remember buying it.


So here it is. Not a flashy wood by any means. Rather hard and heavy. A bit rough on the chisels. An open grained wood that makes it difficult to get a smooth, shiny finish. But it has a quiet authority about it.

Hand cut dovetails, ebony lift and tray detail, Brusso hinges, and an oil finish. It measures 12.5" x 6.75" x 4.25".

The grain/pattern looks gorgeous on the interior of the box (especially the inside of the lid). It seems a bit busy for the outside walls of the box for my taste. Nice work!

You can store a few.ounces in that. Very nice.
