Seven countries now dominate the world’s gold supply, but the latest numbers reveal a surprising shake-up in the global rankings. As prices surge to record highs, powerful shifts are unfolding deep inside the mines that feed the global economy.

Data places global recoverable reserves at 64,000 metric tons in 2024. The majority of these reserves are located in Australia, Russia, South Africa, the United States and China.

China – 370 Metric Tons
Russia – 310 Metric Tons
Australia – 300 Metric Tons
Canada – 200 Metric Tons
United States – 170 Metric Tons
Kazakhstan – 130 Metric Tons
Mexico – 120 Metric Tons

With global mine production totaling 3,300 metric tons in 2024, the top-tier producers reflect a new distribution of influence in the international gold economy.
