Until last night I never noticed them. I was separating all my pre 82 pennies and ran across a 2009 penny. I only noticed because of the different design on the back. Went and did a search and I guess they are kind of rare. 4 or 5 different designs on the back for that year and much lower mintages. Still in the millions so not to rare but I went through every penny I had and only found 1 from 2009. Collectors must be scooping them up.

That year of proof set with the 90% silver version is fun. Buy the silver at spot and the four-pack of proof cents are free. That year has the six territory quarters (one extra) the sacajawea dollar and four presidents dollars, plus the four Lincoln cents. The dollars and others I spend. Twenty minutes ago I ran back in to work and grabbed a roll of proof dollars for the car wash. The plastic four coin penny set makes a good little gift for kids that collect coins (or anybody.)

I bought some uncirculated rolls from APMEX. I know I still have them just don't know where off the top of my head. I should sell them as I don't do collectible stuff at all.
