^^ Turd was mistaken. Section (2)(B) specifies considering the gold revaluation.

Cryptocurrency exchange BitMart said Sunday it will wind down its trading platform, ending nine years of operation and sending its exchange token down almost 60% after the announcement.

It is the second crypto exchange to announce a closure in the same week, with perpetuals trading powerhouse BitMEX saying Thursday it would shut down after 11 years, as CoinDesk reported.

The exchange stopped accepting new registrations, deposits and new trading orders from 01:30 UTC on Sunday, it said, with futures accounts moving to reduce-only mode.

All trading, spot and derivatives, ends on Aug. 26, and the platform formally ceases operations on Jan. 31, 2027. Withdrawals stay open throughout, though BitMart urged users to complete identity checks, close positions and submit withdrawal requests before the August cutoff.

Is this smoke? Is there a fire?

I had read (by forgot to cross-post here, speculation that the closings are likely related to regulation changes in the EU. These exchanges cannot comply with new EU regs and are having to either change jurisdiction or shut down accounts for European customers (which might be most of their existing business).

I believe this is likely going to end up being the black swan that cripples BTC specifically and the entire crypto complex for long time if not permanently:

Crypto bill collapses on Senate floor

The Senate on Tuesday rejected a sweeping cryptocurrency bill amid opposition from Democrats and a handful of Republicans, punctuating a remarkable collapse for the measure following months of acrimonious bipartisan negotiations.

Senators voted 49-50 to reject the so-called Clarity Act, delivering a stinging defeat to the crypto industry. Democrats objected that the bill did not go far enough to address concerns about President Donald Trump’s potential conflicts of interest in the digital assets sector and some Republicans were swayed by concerns from the banking industry.

I don't what this is all about yet, but it looks like a banking sector attempt at a 'cbdc' (in quotes because it's not, afaik, a Fed project.

Crypto news recaps

It will be interesting to see how the phase out of Tether from EU crypto firms affects the global crypto market.

Russian citizens will not be allowed to buy or sell cryptocurrency directly without state-regulated intermediaries starting next summer, according to official guidance from Russia’s Central Bank.

The regulator wrote in an FAQ that peer-to-peer crypto transactions between individual buyers and sellers will be removed from the list of legal operations after July 1, 2027.

Media outlets that first reported on the looming ban noted that individuals may attempt to bypass it by disguising direct crypto sales as personal gifts or debt repayments.

Under a law President Vladimir Putin signed over the summer, cryptocurrencies may be bought and sold only through institutions regulated by the Central Bank.

These intermediaries include exchanges, brokers, asset managers and digital depositories.

Retail investors will be limited to purchases of 300,000 rubles ($3,690) a year through each intermediary.

The Central Bank has already begun building an official registry of authorized crypto operators, which currently includes 12 entities like the state lenders Sberbank and VTB.

The July 1, 2027, deadline is also set for cryptocurrency exchanges and digital depositories to obtain the required licenses.

The law prohibits cryptocurrency payments inside Russia but not cross-border settlements.

How will they enforce it though?

BTC over radio does not solve any of BTC's biggest issues IMO.
