But... debt is money! We're rich!

http://www.usdebtclock.org/2015-current-rates.html so 2015 projections are for 24+ trillion federal debt. interesting. No way there is that much savings in the world for real purchases internal or external. the only way to even reach these debt levels is through Fed purchases, so i guess gold and silver will do much better than we expect.

Forget about gold standard, won`t happen. No government is discuplined enough, brave enough or crazy enough to attempt it. Not this century folks.

I know, i know, strong, categorical statements, but gold is a private investment and a darn good one; however no government will attempt it because it will conflict with their expansion, wars and social programs. We just dont see that kind of prudence and discipline anywhere in the world anymore.

mmmmmmmm gotta buy some more silver.

In other words, we are f**ked.

Of course, I have known that for years, and have been saying so for over 40 years.

Since the total GDP of the entire world is somewhere in the range of 50-75 trillion dollars, I see no way out.

And it seems to me that the absolute total indebtedness of America, public and private, is something like 500 times GDP right now.

Governments NEVER willingly accept anything that limits their power. Any monetary standard of any kind is therefore avoided like the plague. The end result is always total collapse. They just spend their way into oblivion and destroy the country in the process.
