Attorney General Merrick Garland on Wednesday released a letter addressed to the leaders of the congressional Committees on the Judiciary announcing the end of the special counsel’s investigation into President Joe Biden’s mishandling of classified material.

The letter , which was addressed to Sens. Dick Durbin and Lindsey Graham as well as Reps. Jim Jordan and Jerry Nadler, made no mention of any criminal charges to be filed against Biden or anyone associated with him.

Special Counsel Robert Hur will not recommend criminal charges against President Biden for mishandling classified documents, according to his report after a months-long investigation into the president's alleged improper retention of classified records.

Hur has been investigating Biden’s improper retention of classified records since last year. Those records included classified documents about military and foreign policy in Afghanistan, among other records related to national security and foreign policy which Hur said implicated "sensitive intelligence sources and methods."

"We conclude that no criminal charges are warranted in this matter," the report states. "We would reach the same conclusion even if the Department of Justice policy did not foreclose criminal charges against a sitting president."

The special counsel also described Biden as "a sympathetic, well-meaning, elderly man with a poor memory."

"We have also considered that, at trial, Mr. Biden would likely present himself to a jury, as he did during our interview of him, as a sympathetic, well-meaning, elderly man with a poor memory," Hur wrote in the report. "Based on our direct interactions with and observations of him, he is someone from whom many jurors will want to identify reasonable doubt. It would be difficult to convince a jury that they should convict him—by then a former president well into his eighties—of a serious felony that requires a mental state of willfulness."

Since both Trump and Biden (along with several others) have screwed up with classified docs, in my opinion, the fair thing and the right thing would be to let Biden finish his term and then boot him outta politics, drop the docs case against Trump and boot him outta politics and do the same thing to Mike Pence.

Watched a good bit of it yesterday. IMO - Hur didn't look too good when being questioned by certain critters. At times he looked disingenuous and at other times he looked like an outright liar. Then again.......this is my take.

As for his resignation being a rumor.....it's not. He resigned a day before he testified.

I have no proof, but I wouldn't be a bit surprised if he wasn't promised a judgeship or some other cool breeze position for his performance.

A 258-page interview transcript that was released ahead of the hearing sheds some light on the latter issue. The transcript, which is based on hours of recorded interviews with Biden that Hur and his staff conducted on October 8 and October 9, largely supports Hur's description of Biden in his February 5 report, which was legally mitigating but politically damaging in the context of the 2024 presidential race, given the concerns that voters have expressed about the 81-year-old president's cognitive health.

The two-tiered justice system is on full display for all Americans to see. I even know some democrats who are disgusted by this.
