Flights across the U.S. – including potentially all that fly through any domestic U.S. airspace – are delayed this morning as a major system outage means the Federal Aviation Authority (FAA) can’t send out key hazard notices to commercial pilots. The FAA says it’s working to resolve the issue, but the widespread impact continues as of early Wednesday morning.

The NOTAM (Notice to Airmen) system is down, which should have very little effect on actual flight opertaions. Anybody canceling and blaming the FAA is working it to their own advantage.

NOTAM is an on-going system listing areas to avoid like rocket launches, bad runways, whatever.... but it doesn't ground you if not operating.

The Federal Aviation Administration lifted its nationwide halt of departing planes on Wednesday morning after a technology outage delayed thousands of flights, but airlines warned the issue will continue to disrupt travel throughout the day.

The FAA said early Wednesday domestic departures would be paused until at least 9 a.m. ET while the agency worked to restore the Notice to Air Missions System, which is responsible for sending messages to all pilots, such as closed runways, hazards and other information.

All flights currently in the air were safe to land, the agency said.

As of December 2, 2021, the FAA published a major change to the acronym NOTAM from Notice to Airmen to the now Notice to Air Mission.

The FAA's NOTAM Modernization initiative was directed to address the FAA Reauthorization Act of 2018, the Pilot's Bill of Rights, and the information gathered from industry stakeholders that use NOTAMs in their daily operations. While addressing all of these concerns, the Federal Women's Program (FWP) was an advocate for making sure the name change was gender-neutral and inclusive. FWP suggested that the new name change was more “inclusive of all aviators and missions.”

How cute and politically correct. 🤪

Yeah, Homey don't play that.

It was obviously systemic racism that caused the problem.

another 'coincidence'... right?

Canada's air hazard notification system experiences brief disruption

Nav Canada says it doesn't believe disruption is related to U.S. system outage

CBC News · Posted: Jan 11, 2023

The computer system that alerts airlines and pilots flying in Canadian airspace to potential hazards experienced a brief disruption on Wednesday.

The system, called the Notice to Air Missions (NOTAM) system, is operated by Nav Canada, a private non-profit that owns and operates Canada's air traffic control system.

Nav Canada said it began experiencing problems with the NOTAM entry system on Wednesday morning that left it unable to send new updates to airlines.

No flights were delayed as a result, said Nav Canada, and the system came back online in the early afternoon.

"We continue to monitor our systems and investigate the cause," the company tweeted.

MonkeyWerx man was saying it was a hack

immediately after the computers went down , over 100 military refueling plans hit the skies to support all the fighter jets that were launched , all in response to the hack

Just a coincidence that there have been a couple X-class solar flares this week?
