This Charlie Munger Video Is FAKE — And It’s Fooling Millions
Jan 14, 2026 #charliemunger #rentvsbuy #realestateinvesting
This video exposes a viral Charlie Munger clip that claims the legendary investor rented for 30 years—and explains why the video is almost certainly fake.
We break down how AI-generated finance content spreads misinformation, why there’s no credible source for the quote, and what Charlie Munger actually believed about money, leverage, and rational decision-making.
You’ll learn the documented truth about Munger’s real estate history and why simplifying investing into slogans like “always rent” or “never buy” misses the point.

There's got to be a story behind the original video. ...
Wikipedia said:During a September 8, 2010 meeting of the Stark County Republican Party at Malone University, Davison delivered a six-minute speech expressing his interest in the party's nomination for County Treasurer. Though Davison lost the nomination to North Canton finance director Alexander Zumbar,[6] Huffington Post citizen journalist Martin Olson's recording of Davison's speech[12] went viral upon its posting on YouTube.[13] By October 2011, YouTube users had viewed the video nearly 2.6 million times.[14] Thereafter, Davison was flown to New York City for an appearance on Good Morning America and to Cleveland for an interview with Inside Edition.[15] He was featured in major media outlets throughout the United States[16] and the world. During his appearances, Davison discussed his astonishment with his instant celebrity, commenting on how he "woke up Thursday thinking it would be just another day" but then began receiving phone calls for media requests.[15][17] In response to the public interest in his speech, Davison remarked:
If one person would get up and do something different, like go to a village council meeting or go talk to a neighbor about getting an improvement in water, an improvement in sewer, an improvement in fire protection or police protection, then I've done something worthwhile. I encourage everyone to run for office and go out and question the people who are representing you. I wish more people came to our meetings and said, 'Hey, what are you people doing up there?'[18]
Six months later, Davison appeared on the March 8, 2011 episode of Comedy Central's Tosh.0 in a "web redemption" parody taped the previous November. In it, Davison made a mock presidential campaign announcement,[19] foreshadowing an actual presidential campaign as unsuccessful candidate for the Boston Tea Party's 2012 presidential nomination.[20]
He appeared in a 2013 television commercial for Volkswagen which aired during Super Bowl XLVII after a "teaser" version of the ad had run a few days prior. The ad featured Davison and other YouTube personalities appearing with reggae singer Jimmy Cliff.[21][22] In October of that year, Davison's speech was ranked #1 on Washington Post writer Aaron Blake's list of "The 12 best political rants". Blake commented that Davison "will never be usurped in the rant department."[23]
In January 2014, Davison topped CNN's ranking of "the best rants ever".[24] In July of that year, he appeared on the ABC program 20/20 in a segment titled "Losing It".[25]
I can't stress this enough. People want the city or county TREASURER...to COUNT MONEY. Control how it is kept, invested, disbursed.I felt that he was channeling both Bobcat Goldthwait and Adolph Hitler.
Asian Guy YT channel terminated for “spam/deceptive practices.”
First rule of thumb - the New Rules - is: Never trust anything unearthed, any video, document, anything - regarding DEAD PEOPLE who we admired or were taught to admire or emulate.
It seems a fair number of videos on Yoob Toob, are using AI as a mask. Probably to hide identity. If so, does it really matter if he uses AI to generate a watchable video in order to communicate his own research and experience?
Moar money in that.He will be doing porn videos next year.
... using AI as a mask. Probably to hide identity. ...
Didn't know that. I'd avoided his stuff. And accountability and escape copyright concerns while ripping off other people's work.
I have to wonder how many companies send their sensitive information to "someone else's computer", and in the case of "AI", that information might be integrated into its "information field" and possibly disclosed to a third party that can craft the proper query.... while ripping off other people's work.
Maybe a collaboration with Hawk Tuah girl?He will be doing porn videos next year.
In this age of fixing, only way I would do a YT channel is with AIIt seems a fair number of videos on Yoob Toob, are using AI as a mask. Probably to hide identity.
For any number of reasons, of course - violating employers' policies; to prevent being Cance
Blows me away they are "smart" enough to use AI as a tool to make slick videos, but not smart enough to know to proof the vid before posting.I can spot this - the vocabulary, the presentation, is better-organized...doesn't plod like pure AI slop does...but is clearly read by a computer program. Also if there's errors in punctuation or inadve
Same here. I saw "his" vids scrolling through YT, but never watched any.As for AI Guy here...I have no comment. Opinions are all over the field, even from commentators I've followed over the years.
There's always been people saying that stuff.Gold is gonna launch, no, the dollar won't crash, it can't crash. Have a balanced portfolio. Sell it all and BUY GOLD. No, valuation formulae need to be updated - the stawk market isn't REALLY in a bubble...
Clear reasons to get axed. And accountability and escape copyright concerns while ripping off other people's work.
...
Are there any examples of that?
Like whose work/copyright did he rip off?

Ok, I can agree on that, but what if I have my own data but suck at making watchable videos or otherwise arranging my data into a friendly format others will be willing to consume?AI generated content is a regurgitation of the training data input (which is scraped from the internet). It is ALL ripped off content.
And I find it interesting that it can be done on a machine that can basically only answer one question; is it five volts or is it ground?I just find the whole AI thing interesting.
That was my point. Takes time to spot the noise from actual information. And it's not always clear-cut - we all know the gold bugs, some have coherent reasoning, deficits, money-printing, monetary reset, societal collapse...and some are just shills...GOLD GONNA GO TO DA MOOOONNNN!!! That kind of crap.here's always been people saying that stuff.
Background noise. The medium used is irrelevant.
I’m looking at what this means for Hollywood. AI generated stars can’t make the same demands as real ones can.Ok, I can agree on that, but what if I have my own data but suck at making watchable videos or otherwise arranging my data into a friendly format others will be willing to consume?
Is it ok to give my data to an AI and let it create a slick presentation for me?
You know, so I don't have to employ video and graphic editors and half a dozen others just to make a ten minute vid someone will want to watch?
That's how I would use AI to make videos, if I were to do that. So I could do it all myself.
That's why I was asking if AG's claim of the AI merely being used to present his own research is true or not.
Btw, I don't think I've ever watched an AG's vid, so I have no idea as to his claims.
I just find the whole AI thing interesting.
There's always a silver lining.I’m looking at what this means for Hollywood. AI generated stars can’t make the same demands as real ones can.
