Bitcoin mixing services allow you to cover up (at least in part) your BTC activity. They get coins from various people, run their algos, and out the other end come your BTC that is much harder to track.

If you just send BTC somewhere, and someone has your wallet ID, they can track your activity (via blockchain.info)

I have used with success two of them:

sharedcoin.com <-- I think this is affiliated with blockchain.info.

bitmixer.io

Neither is very fast (call it 30 - 40 minutes for everything to arrive OK), nor are they drop-dead easy to use, but they do seem to work as advertised.

I am going to try and convince our town's local newspaper to let me contribute a Bitcoin article, apparently no one has done that.

Then I become one of my town's "experts", maybe I can consult for $150 per hour...
