Big Tech companies, foreign governments scramble after Trump slaps $100,000 fee on H-1B visas

  • President Donald Trump late Friday announced plans to impose a $100,000 fee on H-1B visas.
  • The move could deal a massive blow to companies — primarily in the technology and finance sectors — that rely heavily on highly skilled immigrants.
  • Amazon employed the most H-1B holders — more than 14,000 as of the end of June.
  • Microsoft, Meta, Apple and Google are also among the top 10 recipients for the fiscal year 2025.
Major technology companies and foreign governments are rushing to respond after President Donald Trump late Friday announced plans to impose a $100,000 fee on H-1B visas, threatening to upend the program that underpins America’s technology workforce.

The fee would apply to new H-1B applicants, not renewals or current visa holders, according to a White House official. It will first apply in the upcoming lottery cycle, and it does not apply to 2025 lottery winners, the person said. The White House also clarified that the new $100,000 fee is not an annual charge, as previously reported by several media outlets.

Rather than hiring from overseas maybe it's time to:

- hook up with unions for apprenticeships
- go into high schools and see if they can find candidates for schooling they would pay for so long as the candidate would work for them for a certain length of time
- provide on the job training
- pay a decent livable wage and provide good benefits and treat employees well

They only want the cheaper labor costs.

There is in fact abuse in the H1b visa system.

Trump is right in doing this, as it will help to ensure that when companies do this, they are willing to pay due to it being a legitimate need.

If the $100k makes it not worth hiring a foreigner, that job will then go to one of us in the USA.

Trump’s H-1B visa changes could ‘kneecap startups,’ drive talent elsewhere, experts say

  • Experts say President Donald Trump’s changes to the H-1B program could deter startups from securing top foreign talent and drive those workers elsewhere.
  • Trump sparked widespread panic Friday after announcing employers will pay a new $100,000 fee for H-1B visas, which are temporary work visas granted to highly skilled foreign professionals.
  • “We need American Little Tech to win—not $100K toll booths,” wrote Garry Tan, CEO Y Combinator, the popular startup accelerator.
It’s been a chaotic few days for the tech sector, and industry executives and experts are still assessing how U.S. President Donald Trump’s latest immigration crackdown could shape the future of their workforces.

The Trump administration sparked widespread panic Friday after announcing employers will pay a new $100,000 fee for H-1B visas, which are temporary work visas granted to highly skilled foreign professionals. These visas have underpinned the U.S. tech workforce for decades.

Inside One of America’s Worst Labor Shortages in North Dakota

Sep 28, 2025
Last year, we visited North Dakota to see how the state is tackling one of the nation’s worst worker shortages. Companies like Cardinal Glass have filled critical jobs with legal immigrants from countries like South Sudan and Haiti. But as US immigration policies crack down on workers, how will manufacturing companies make up the difference?

Innocent CITIZEN Arrested TWICE by ICE

Sep 30, 2025

Leo is an American citizen born to Mexican national parents. Like so many others in his south Alabama community, he works in construction. Baldwin County, where he lives, has grown quickly in recent years. For Leo, that growth presents an exciting opportunity: A chance to work hard to help meet the demand for new housing. But the federal government sees a different opportunity in the housing boom: a target for its “mass deportation” campaign.
In early 2025, federal agents—often masked and always armed—began raiding private construction sites in Alabama. The raids follow a common pattern: Agents enter private properties—even areas that are posted, fenced, or enclosed—without warrants. Then, they seize all workers who appear Latino—even citizens who have done nothing wrong. This all happened to Leo, not once, but twice.
In May, masked agents ran past a “no trespassing” sign onto a property where Leo was working to detain everybody who appeared Latino (ignoring others). Leo told them he was a citizen, yet they still tackled and handcuffed him. Even after seeing his REAL ID—which Alabama only issues to lawful residents—they kept Leo tightly handcuffed for an hour.
Then, in June, it happened again. Agents walked inside a house where Leo was working, surrounded him, and ordered him to follow them. Again, Leo produced his REAL ID. Again, the agents refused to accept it. They marched him out of the development and detained him alongside other workers they had grabbed—only releasing him (and other lawful residents) 20 minutes later after confirming his citizenship.
All Leo ever did was show up at work. And for that, he was assaulted and detained. Enough is enough. These federal raids violate the Fourth Amendment and exceed immigration officers’ legal powers. So, Leo has partnered with the Institute for Justice to file a federal class-action lawsuit to put a stop to them. He’s also seeking damages for the violations he suffered. Because if Americans must follow the law, our government must be held accountable when it violates the Constitution.

These federal raids violate the Fourth Amendment and exceed immigration officers’ legal powers.
How?

For years we used to hear about INS raids on workplaces with lots of illegal immigrants caught working. If it was legal then, it's legal now. Ie: they are enforcing the same laws now that have been on the books for Decades. The dif is that in the past Decade or two, the dems and libs have reversed their positions on illegal immigration. They used to be strict on it. Now they favor open borders.

IJ Defends U.S. Citizen Repeatedly Detained by Immigration Agents

The punishment could include DECADES in federal prison for Marimar Martinez.

18 U.S.C. § 111 — Assaulting Federal Officers
• This is the core charge: assaulting, resisting, or impeding a federal officer or employee.

• Because she was armed with a semi-automatic weapon, the assault involves a “deadly or dangerous weapon.”

• Maximum penalty: Up to 20 years in federal prison.
—————————————
18 U.S.C. § 924(c) — Using or Carrying a Firearm During a Crime of Violence

• Simply having a firearm “in furtherance of” a violent federal crime (like assaulting an officer) triggers a mandatory consecutive sentence.

Mandatory minimum penalties:

• 5 years for possessing the gun
• 7 years if the firearm was brandished

These years are added on top of any other sentence — they must run consecutively.
————————————
18 U.S.C. § 115 — Retaliating Against or Intimidating Federal Officials

She rammed a federal vehicle therefore adding additional charges for property destruction adding up to 10 years (or more if damage exceeds $1,000).

She injured and attempted to kill a federal official, federal prosecutors can stack several of these charges, leading to a sentence of 30 years to life in prison.

Denmark followed 321 Muslim Palestinian asylum seekers and their kids for nearly 30 years. This is the SHOCKING result

- Out of the original 321 Palestinians, 204 ended up being convicted of a crime
- 71 of them were jailed
- 176 ended up on welfare
- That accounts for 63% became criminals and were convicted and more than half ended up on welfare

So they followed the second generation:

They had 399 children

- 337 ended up being convicted of a crime
- 132 of them ended up being jailed
- 372 of them ended up on welfare
- So that's a 34% conviction rate and a 37% welfare rate

“Their very own Justice Minister later stated in a 2019 interview, and this is the guy who presided over this entire thing, by the way, and I quote, these asylum seekers should not have been let in.”

93-95% of Palestinians are Muslim

Chicago Gang Offered $10K to ‘Take Down’ US Border Patrol Chief—DHS

A suspected Latin Kings gang member has been charged with allegedly placing a bounty on U.S. Border Patrol Chief Gregory Bovino, according to the Department of Justice.

The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) said Juan Espinoza Martinez, a Mexican national, entered the United States at an unknown date.

Why It Matters

DHS officials say immigration agents have observed a rise in assaults since January, when the Trump administration began implementing its immigration policies. The department attributes some of the attacks to protests against ICE operations and has blamed Democrats and progressive activists.

The surge in incidents comes as the administration ramps up efforts to remove millions of migrants living in the country without legal authorization.

This is Ramiro Chavez. He served 22 years in the military. Two tours in Vietnam. His ancestry from his dad's side is from Mexico. His mother's ancestry side is from Spain.

His granddaughter asked him what he thinks when he hears that Trump's people are just picking up Hispanic people and kicking them out of the country.

"I don't think that's true…...if you have proper identification, they aren't gonna' bother you. They might stop you, have to be curious, but, they're not gonna' take you in, and if they do, you will be out in minutes....there are many, many different types of people who are citizens in this country, but they came in here legally. Hispanics don't have to worry about that if they have their papers in order and all that stuff, they don't have to worry about it.

…....this is the best country in the world. Trump's just trying to keep it that way. "

Your grandpa speaks nothing but the truth. Nobody here the legal way is worried..the fake news just likes to spread false narratives.

Thank you for your service sir and I'm glad you finally saw the light granddaughter.
