Copper Stays at $6?! Steel, Converters & Carbide Surge Again

Streamed live 53 minutes ago
Copper is holding near $6.00 per pound as tight scrap supply and low global inventories offset the Chinese New Year slowdown, while steel prices are edging higher on improved mill demand and aluminum continues climbing toward $2,800/MT. Nickel remains strong near $20,000/MT despite stainless scrap lagging, platinum and palladium are rebounding to support catalytic converter prices, and tungsten and carbide have nearly doubled since November — making early 2026 one of the strongest starts the scrap metal market has seen in years.
