Troubling Interview Shows Trump Lives in a Fantasy World of His Own Design​

While much of the attention following Donald Trump’s interview with CNBC on Tuesday focused on the insanely racist things he said about both Hispanic immigrants and African Americans, it is important to point out that it also showed that the president of the United States is nuts.

Granted, we have highlighted this before, but we believe it is a big deal and therefore worth mentioning all the time. In fact, since Trump says and does crazy things every single day, we are showing great restraint in only writing about his fraught mental state every couple of weeks or so.

But before we get to that, we don’t want to deprive you of the quote everybody is talking about… because Trump isn’t just insane, he is also a racist.

Watch: Trump puts Washington, DC, police under federal control, deploys National Guard​

  • President Donald Trump said he is placing the Washington, D.C., police department under federal control and deploying National Guard troops in the capital city.
  • Trump has previously threatened to bring the nation’s capital under federal control.
  • Trump also criticized the cost of the Federal Reserve’s ongoing headquarters renovation, continuing his attack on Fed Chairman Jerome Powell.
President Donald Trump on Monday said he is placing the Washington, D.C., police department under federal control and deploying National Guard troops in order to address what he claims is out-of-control crime in the capital city.

Trump, who has threatened to put Washington under federal control, made the announcement at a news conference at the White House that was ongoing as of 11:34 a.m.

“This is Liberation Day in D.C., and we’re going to take our capitol back,” Trump said in the White House briefing room.

Trump ushers in an era of ‘shakedown’ capitalism​

President Donald Trump has realigned global trade and American politics, ushering in a new era in which pay-to-play appears to be the new norm, and every interaction is a chance to score some extra cash — even if it means starting a global trade war or demanding a payout from America’s own industries.

ICYMI: American chipmakers Nvidia and AMD agreed to pay the US government 15% of their revenues from semiconductor sales to China in exchange for export licenses. It’s an unorthodox (and potentially illegal) arrangement which, at minimum, offers Trump a new way to exert even more control over American business.

The companies will now be able to resume selling chips in China, months after Trump blocked all semiconductor sales to the country, citing national security concerns. While that might not have sunk a company as large as Nvidia — which recently became the first public company ever to notch a $4 trillion valuation — it was still a hit to the bottom line. China made up 13% of Nvidia’s sales in 2024, and the company forecast billions in lost revenue if the ban stayed in place.

Trump places $5 million bounty on infamous Haitian warlord ‘Barbecue’​

Donald Trump has placed a $5 million price on the head of Haitian warlord Jimmy “Barbecue” Cherizier.

The US Justice Department has accused the gang boss of funnelling cash from the US to bankroll his bloody criminal empire in Port-au-Prince.

Officials announced the bounty offering the reward for information that leads to the capture of the 48-year-old former police officer. He is wanted in America for allegedly violating US sanctions.

I did not see a single one saying, "My primary is plumbing in unusual and awkward locations, with special focus on the choice of CPVC versus PEX in new and repair environments, and the decisions for and against Sharkbite fittings. I also studied and demonstrated proficiency in toilet installations and servicing, with clear decisions on traditional versus newer sealing methods.

I also minored in electrical installation, covering basic wiring and NEC basics, and am able to work under a licensed electrician."

I did not see any who claimed any ability in framing or even installing any single thing bought from a building supply store.

Nor did any claim the ability to program in C and assembler for embedded microcontrollers, OS device drivers, or kernel networking code.

Nor did they say they could run a farm or ranch and produce food.

So WHAT THE HELL exactly can they do to earn their continued existence here?

Economist Paul Krugman rips MAGA for putting their 'feelings' ahead of 'facts'​

In 2019, a collection of columns by right-wing pundit Ben Shapiro was titled "Facts Don't Care About Your Feelings." Shapiro has repeatedly claimed that liberals and progressives are often motivated by feelings and emotions rather than facts and data, and he revisited that theme with a subsequent book titled "Facts Still Don't Care About Your Feelings."

But in a SubStack column published on Thursday morning, August 14, it is a well-known liberal — economist and former New York Times columnist Paul Krugman — who argues in favor of facts and data taking priority over feelings. And he reminds President Donald Trump and his allies that their feelings don't make facts any less true no matter how much they dislike those facts.
