I knew Iva Toguri , AKA "Tokyo Rose". Her family ran a small import/gift shop on a foot beat I worked. The name of the shop was "Toguri Mercantile" and Ive was a nice person caught in a bad place at the wrong time. She was one of about a dozen girls who could have been called the Tokyo Rose moniker but she probably owned it more then the others. A very brave person, she refused to denounce her citizenship or badmouth her nation despite threat from the Empire Of Japan She risked arrest during the war by helping American POWs while also turning her broadcasts into a mockery, which the Empire never quite understood because their understanding of American society was so poor.

Even still the FBI rail roaded her after the war and she spent 6 years in prison. The Ford administration eventually gave her a full, unconditional pardon because the FBLie coerced witness's to Lie during her trial during a wave of anti-Japanese hatred in America at the time.

I wish I had something interesting to post about knowing her but we never talked about Politics, history, or that time in her life.
