Whole lot of chatter about a potential false flag drone attack on the West Coast got me to thinking back to this drone mystery from late 2024.

Mystery drones fly near DC-area military base as Iran tensions escalate

U.S. officials detected unidentified drones near a military installation in Washington, D.C., where top administration officials reportedly have been housed, as security concerns mount amid escalating tensions in the Middle East and with Iran.

Multiple drones were spotted in recent days near Fort Lesley J. McNair, where Secretary of State Marco Rubio and Secretary of War Pete Hegseth are living, The Washington Post reported, citing people briefed on the situation. The origin of the drones has not been determined.

The base, located in Southwest Washington, D.C., houses the National Defense University and senior military leadership. It also reportedly has been used to accommodate high-level administration officials amid elevated security concerns.

DON'T PANIC! They are not Iranian drones.

They are just the usual extra-terrestrial craft doing their thing.

Stay calm. If Iranian drones do appear, then we will alert you to the imminent danger.

Drone swarms over key U.S. military bases raise concerns

Mar 27, 2026
The war in Ukraine is providing a real-time testing ground for nations defending against drones. But unidentified drones are also an ongoing concern in the United States. This month, a swarm of drones repeatedly hovered around Barksdale Air Force Base in northwest Louisiana. Liz Landers discussed more with retired Air Force Lt. Gen. Dave Deptula.

Maybe someone is still wondering how a couple nukes can get lost between Barksdale and Minot.

I missed that story.

If it happened, it's because someone wanted it to happen.

With the tools they have now, with all the surveillance cameras, all the ability to sniff out emails, monitor cellular calls, observe movement in real time...right down to fleeing liquor-store robbers...if someone gets away with something, either someone isn't interested in catching the perp, or someone connected to powerful traitors persons was involved.

Secret Service statement as F-16s deployed after unusual plane spotted near Mar-a-Lago

On Sunday, in the area where President Donald Trump was spending the weekend near Palm Beach, Florida, the North American Aerospace Defense Command, also known as NORAD, intercepted an aircraft that entered the area.

Secret Service told FOX News that "During the intercept, NORAD aircraft dispensed flares, which may have been visible to the public."

This post and the one below it are cross posted from the Ukraine thread and are related to drone warfare. In the second post they tald about AI controlling drones.

Did you know that over on the https://www.instructables.com/ site there is a 3d printed drone made with common parts that looks like a small version of one of the interceptor drones the Ukes make?

Is this the one?

Cheap drones are reshaping modern warfare — and catching the U.S. off guard: Over the Gulf region right now, relatively cheap Iranian drones are being taken out by costly and difficult-to-manufacture U.S. interceptor missiles. A typical Shahed-136 costs Tehran roughly $20,000 to $50,000, while interceptors, such as the Patriot and Terminal High Altitude Area Defense (THAAD), cost millions. (NPR)

Ukrainian drones learn from 4 years of war | Sitrep podcast

May 7, 2026 Sitrep podcast | Defence explained
Ukraine has amassed so much battlefield footage from drones that it would take more than 200 years to watch. Now it’s using that footage, with machine learning, to teach drones to become more lethal.
Simon Newton explains how the country has made breakthroughs that allow the devices to identify not only potential targets, but also their most vulnerable spots.
The work could also have benefits for the UK, with talk that massive pool of training data could be shared with allies.
But does this put us on an unstoppable path to machines making life and death decisions on the battlefield? Dr. Matthew Powell, from the RAF College Cranwell, explains the practical and ethical dilemmas.
Kate Gerbeau presents, with Simon Newton.

The footage that reveals Ukraine's ultra realistic battlefield drone training

May 13, 2026 #bfbsforcesnews #forcesnews #news
Footage sent to BFBS Forces News shows Ukrainian recruits being hit by training drones as instructors recreate the threat waiting for them on the frontline.
A Ukrainian soldier is seen being struck by a drone flown by a fellow soldier, with a dummy charge producing a puff of smoke to simulate a strike.

I suspect this is just a transitory phase. Not unlike Trench Warfare. Once a method comes along, dealing with them - it shouldn't cost much to put nylon nets along areas, strung on poles like power transmission lines...they'll fell most of them.

Jamming the radio instruction is already done...yeah, fiber optics. Surely a blade or chopper could be set up to cut THOSE. Like the machetes set up upright on the hoods WWII jeeps, to cut fine wire and string at neck level...set up to decapitate occupants in open trucks.

All this does show, though, that victory belongs to the creative. That right now is not us. We've gotten into the habit of just creating gargantuan sums of fiat, sending them to our political munitions manufacturers, and aiming these kludgy weapons and systems at Bedouins and guerrillas. With some kills.

But just as George Washington found a way to beat the British, by ignoring their self-imposed rules of warfare, which rather resembled parade marches...just as the Luftwaffe discovered a better use for aircraft than photography...use them in a swarm, create firestorms, and quickly fly out...now it's drones, and now it's challenging the entrenched concepts and practices.

We're not responding well. It's unfortunate, because our generals should have spent less time demanding fiat for the MIC and more time studying the history of warfare. We got bested. By better ideas.

Now we can adapt, or lose. I suspect we will lose, because the MIC is gonna prevent any shift away from the lucrative Status Quo.
