When I was young and idealistic, I was prepared to 'defend my Country' and possibly end up in the situation so many of those soldiers found themselves in but now I have a different view on things ........

The fellows who were sent to Viet Nam were the children of WWII and Korea veterans, and at least initially, there was support for the efforts in French Indochina. We still had a certian pride and were the richest, most powerful nation the world had ever seen. The rest of the world had only just began enjoying the fruits of a long and painful reconstruction post-WWII, so we held all of the cards.
