That's pretty odd. It looks too big to be found by riverbed prospecting (sifting).

Yeah, they already are being pretty sketchy saying where they found it. Their math is a bit fuzzy too. They guy said it weighs 18 ounces (assuming troy but it didn't say) and it should be worth $70,000. Lets round it off to 20ozt and say gold shoots up to $2,000/ozt that's still only $40,000. 18ozt at current spot is $24,300. And all this is if it was pure gold. I never heard the estimation of its current purity, but once refined it might only be 14ozt.

nice find. But how did they come up with the description "Size of a T-bone steak". Must be a Cali. thing.

Edit: I guess they meant weight wise.
