Thought I'd say hi and introduce myself a little.

I've been educating myself in financial matters for about a year now in places like ZH and Shaun Richards blog. Started buying PMs after a couple of months when I realised how poorly my investments were likely to do in the coming years and that my savings were basically being looted by Zirp and inflation.

Any other Brits around here?

I'll second that -- innovative ways to defend yourself work the best anyway.
If someone attacks you, they might be ready for the obvious response, but not the pen in the eye!

I might be a soft southern Brit but Im reluctant to say too much on an open forum as anything I might say could incriminate me .....

although not applying for planning permission prior to building and using, breaks no law ...

its only when the enforcement crew show up and serve a legal enforcement notice that you fail to act on ....
