That's great man!As for pain... I've been walking 1/2 mile up to the clubhouse in our community.
Then using the machines to lift weights. I started out with 8 lbs per arm, 10 reps... haven't lifted for 40 years and being an old fart I'm starting out slow lest I tear something. Been doing this for about 2 weeks. Still learing how the machines work.
I have 10 lbs on the next machine because it feels about right. The plan is to push it from 10 to 11 to N reps before I raise the weight to the next stack.
There's free weights available, but I'm starting on machines.
After working on 3 machines I head to the treadmill for 1 mile of fast walking before walking the 1/2 mile back... total 2 miles.
Thanks!That's great man!
Weight training is really good for us as we get older, because our muscle mass wants to go away faster once we hit late 50's early 60's.
Only way to prevent that, is make 'em work.
Keep it up! Your future self will thank you for the effort.
And I can't do any of that, without surgeries...by mind-controlled quacks, who believe the political dogma about the Miracle of mRNA....Thanks!
Already noticed improved arm strength picking up 40lbs birdseed from Costo.
Today I bumped up the weight to 10lbs per arm. I figure a week at that should condition me for the next 'bump'...
That means you need to up your game a bit, and take 'em to the next level.couldn't feel the obliques isolated or working.
... my blood pressure readings have gone from ~140-150 over 95 (stage two hypertension) to ~120-130 over 90 (more or less normal range), so I think it is definitely helping.
I was looking back over the my first few posts in this thread and it's wild how much progress I've made.
BP readings these days are consistently in the 110-125 over 75-85 range.
... Now ya just gotta keep it up ...
That's called "progress".I am having to struggle a bit to keep the abs as tight as possible. They are working, but not sore when I'm done.
I can't wait to hear his reaction to the new and improved Mr. 'Bug.Not yet. My appointment got rescheduled. I will see the doc again at the end of this month.
That's the problem most people who start a new exercise routine inevitably run into.I struggle sometimes with trying to balance a good rest with time constraints
longer rests between sets and exercises = more effective subsequent exercise.
And poor form = injury.Perfect form = strong muscles. Just good form = working muscles.
When you do these, are you in a full sitting position?Wall Sit - 1 set of 60 is MY goal
I settle into the stance. I breath. I don't remember the breath count, but quads start burning early. Around breath 40 they are burning intensely and knees begin to tremble slightly. Trembling stays mild though and doesn't progress to shaking/spasming. Quads burn like the heat of a thousand suns today. Around breath 60 I'm wondering if I'll make it to 75. I reach breath 70 and the pain is intense but I'm going for broke. As I reach breath 75, my body is screaming at me to quit. I do not though. Breath 80 and my vision is blurring. I stop after breath 90 and shimmy up the wall. My quads are still on fire. I'm wondering how I'm going to walk down the stairs now.
I'd been wondering what's up.It's been a few days and I'm sad to report that I have not been a good boy.
That's the problem everyone has with having to make time to do stuff like this. Life gets in the way, and the time it takes for exercise used to be filled with other things we might also need to still do.There's been a confluence of conspiring coincidences crowding out my workout windows.
It's amazing how quickly we can lose gains previously made.It was definitely too much time elapsed since the last workout.
Is there any of the stuff you are doing that could be done while you are doing other things? ...
Well, do whatever ya gotta do to allow yourself to be able to keep at it. That's the important part. I've just seen so many people start things like this, only to end up stopping due to time constraints. Myself included, in the past.I do not like to work out when I have food in the belly. I like to work out when I feel hungry. That limits my workout time windows to before lunch or a few hours after (and before I take a shower - if I've showered early for a social thing, I'm not going to work out and shower again).
Some of the exercises I can do whenever like the Pronation Lever (forearms) and that one I am doing off and on while on the computer or watching TV. No real schedule for that one. I just do it as I remember and feel like it.
The abs workout (Crucifix Crunch > Core Hold Series > Side planks ) should be done together as a series I think. I'm beginning to think all the rest can honestly be done piecemeal, but I haven't really set out a plan for distributing them to another schedule.
That's impressive.59 miles.
Two trains, three Waymo's, and a bunch of coyotes.
....but no skunks or gunshots.
